The machine took two months to arrive. I had the mat within a few days of ordering it. I left it rolled up in the package, wrapped in plastic, until I was ready to use it. There was no problem unrolling it and placing it on the floor where the elliptical machine was to go. No weird smells or uneven cuts that others have mentioned. I am glad I went with this 1/4" instead of a thicker mat, because this one is extremely durable as is. It is basically recycled car tires, which is beyond durable. Given that it's made of recycled tires, I was concerned that it would smell like a tire shop in my home, but the smell is very faint, barely noticeable; you really have to put your nose up against it to sense the smell.
