I use this as a surface skimmer for my 75-gallon tank. I put foam matrix (bio bed filter) in the undercompartment, but I left a hole in the middle, so the water travels to the impeller unheeded. I also closed the lower door completely, so all the suction comes from the surface water.Every day, I do two a two-bucket water change instead of a weekly change. The fish love the consistency of the water quality. During these changes, I rinse out floss that sits in the upper compartment. To keep the floss there, I cut a small piece of plastic canvas that sits in the bottom of the top portion.(Plastic canvas is an aquarist's friend.)The constant cleaning it does to the surface of the tank has greatly improved how my fish act. I think it removes the proteins and scum from high-protein and high-fat foods I feed every few days. And a clean surface is fantastic for gas exchange.The crazy thing is that this skimmer works for an entire 75-gallon tank. That is a surface of six square feet. I cannot imagine how this little dynamo would do in a nano tank. The fish would surely feel like they were in a blender!Anyway, it's been chugging along for four years, and it has just been a great addition to the tank. I keep it by the fluidized bed, so the other side of the tank has low current. Fish like a choice.Two soggy thumbs up.

Going on 1 year and still doing fine. This has been a great little skimmer for my 20 long Pea Puffer tank. Really get the fine debris cleared from the surface. I'm amazed at how well this skimmer works. Great value for the money spent!

I have this in a 10 gallon tank. For whatever reason that particular tank gets a film on top, none of my other tanks do. The skimmer is pretty noisy. It is also powerful, probably too powerful for a 10 gallon, really blows the fish around, but clears the surface in just a few minutes. Since I really don’t need it to run all the time I put it on a smart plug and run it for 5 minutes several times per day. It clears the surface and adds a little extra aeration to the water. I am pleased with it.

Just the right filter for aquariums that needs surface filtering but with little surface agitation. For all aquariums that have duckweed this is a life saver.It skims the surface perfectly then it takes that oily surface water, filters it and returns it back into the aquarium with a mix of fresh air.It's like having a waterfall without having a waterfall!With the adjustable air flow, you can aerate your aquarium to get the right amount of air bubbles.Don't add too much custom filter media in it or the floating weir won't move up or down like it's supposed to. It works fine with the filter pad that comes with it.The flow is stronger than expected. I have 1 on my 55 gallon blowing across the rear and none of the duckweed gets disturbed. Great for African Butterfly fish😁

I've gone through two of these in two months. The first one worked for two weeks, the second one worked for six weeks. I'm so completely disappointed because ultimately I really, really loved this and while it worked it made my 75 gallon aquarium look amazing. Trillions of absolutely miniscule bubbles flowing around and through plants, making the sag and val and ferns and wisterias and everything sway peacefully in the soft current......it was picturesque.Which makes it all the more disappointing that it failed. Again. Fool me twice... I really just want an equivalent product. I didn't even use the skimmer, I have a ton of floaters. I simply wanted the oxygenation and slight flow to the water. Back to the drawing board.

CHECK EDIT BELOW OP : fits easily in the overflow area in the rear sump part of the tank. I also don't have to take the whole thing out to change the pads(I use two pads, I cut myself from a sheet of filter floss). I just pull the top up and grab the pads with come tongs and cut and put the new ones in, then throw the top on. super simple and in the back I don't ever see it, so it does a great job as well and doing the job unseen. for a reef enthusiast this is pretty great as we like things to be showy and look clean and proper in our tanks. haven't had anything noise issues and this tank with the unit is on my kitchen counter. so if it was noisey I would know right away. flow is good and is adjustable. although i advise not to put in in your main tank area because of the bubbles which there was alot of and made my corals very unhappy. so i stuck it in the back and never had issues from then on. if you are looking for the smallest protein skimmer you can find that actually works well and checks all the boxes then this is or you.. BUT anything larger than 15 gals reef tank then look else where because it will need changing every other day in a bigger system. currently changing weekly(3 inches of pad)* This is my second unit bought *EDIT: MY ONLY GRIPE. Sent an open product or sent a product that wasnt quality controlled. Sent without the 4 suction cups for the rear on the unit. Basically making this unusable because it has no way of staying level with the water in the tank, BIG UPSET and cant believe something like the suction cups were left out.. now i cant do anything with the unit.. this coming after i give a 5 star review days before i get this unit. Truly disappointing, not like you pay an arm and a leg for this but at the same time, you want to atleast get everything in the box that the unit NEEDS to operate properly. Also it wont properly filter because the slots where the suction cups go are open to the water so the pump will just suck the water thru those holes and not be pulled past the filter media, which again makes the product unless.. literally they could have left everything out of the box except the unit itself and the suction cups and it would have worked just fine... my last unit i worked with i didnt used any of the attachments and it worked just fine as long as those suction cups are there to block water from passing thru and forced thru the filter media at the top of the unit. So buy with this in mind, and check the box and contents before, so you have a chance to get and return or refund.. all this is coming from owning one of these units for 2 years in continuous use. Exactly what you want from a very small skimmer, and when you get everything youre supposed too it actually works great.. but now i HAVE to give a worse star review because of this. What a shame.. quality control can make or break your experience with this product.. was 5 star.. now 3 star because ill never beable to use this or get my money back. 👍 awesome.(sarcasm)
