WINDOWS ONLY... aweful & dangerous in Mac OS or Linux
don't bother with this unless you are in MS-Windows:I got a friend with a Macbook to try it, and the volume started in the VERY*PAINFUL mode:In Linux, the only settings are Silent, Mid-Loud, Deafening, PAINFUL and VERY*PAINFUL are the volume-settings...In Mac OS X it may be more-adjustable in the lower volume levels than it is in Linux ( when things aren't so busy 'round here maybe I'll have my friend try 'em & see, so I can tell you if that is true ),but it can easily damage your hearing in either Linux or Mac OS X...I live in Linux( openSUSE.org 12.2,but first tried SuSE years ago, Linux been savin' my "donkey" since 1996 )and this thing sucks, utterly:there is NO way to make the volume manageable at non-harmful levels.CMedia chip -shudder-lsusb -vs 005:008 ( my system's USB address for it, currently )tells me it has a max power of 100ma,max packet-size of 200 bytes, etc...idProduct: 0d8c:0008 C-Media Electronics, Inc.( if you come across any other device that lsusb, that's LiStUSB, for you non-geeks,that lsusb identifies as idProduct: 0d8c:0008,it's the same chip.lsusb is a gnu command-line util available in many Linux-kernelled systems, like lspci... )In Linux, set your ALSA to the lowest setting you can while still getting sound,& that'll be mid-loud,and in openSUSE PulseAudio is part of the deal,so set that at 34% or 35%.30% gives NO sound, 34-35% gives mid-loud, 40% gives deafening, and there are no intermediate steps, it seems......you get the idea.( still, for an electronic-music / di.fm fix,ANYthing usable's better than nothing, right? :)Since the main reason I got this was for the condenser-mic on it,so I could both record "podcast" material &work well with Dragon Naturally Speaking,( which is MS-Windows only ),it's a functional keeper, for me,but not on Linux.PS, in Linux, the sound-quality of the headphones sucks, too:a bit boomy ( yeah, people like that, I prefer clarity & correctness ) &cardboardy...closed-back drivers, btw...the wire & the mic are left-side only( swings up, doesn't swing down the other side, for those who need the boom on the right )the ear-cups don't swivel for forward-facing ears( so I just put the things back a bit,and let the cups start behind my ears )the cord is long, you will have to switch which sound-device is in use,to switch from your computer's normal sound-device to this( probably for all OSs, even MS-Windows )...For 32 bucks, fine, for the condenser-mic, good,( haven't tested it yet, others have found it excellent compared with the competition's dynamic-mics, for clarity )for the sound-quality of the headphones, get something else ( unless it's significantly-better in Windows, possible... )for the fit, not great, for the USBness of it ( if one doesn't HAVE usable headphones-jack on a machine )...maybe if Windows, but in Mac OS or Linux, don't go near the thing...Hope This Helps... Unhappy with durability and longevity
I got two of these in 2020. I threw one away today because it was no longer working in one ear and the mic. It had gone bad in the Mic a while ago. I have the Sennheiser pc8 and Logitech clear chat and both of these are much cheaper and take Dragon dictation a good bit better. I'm not sure why. I spent a little more on these ($69) hoping they would be a real step up. They were not- in comfort, quality or durability.

Good microphone quality, a bit uncomfortable though
The headset is great. Doesn't feel too flimsy, It has good sound quality, and most importantly a great microphone. It's just uncomfortably tight and doesn't have enough options to change the fit for me, personally.I have an integrated audio card, and as a result analog microphones give poor results when recording due to the low quality audio card. A USB microphone will give the same consistent performance, no matter the quality of the audio card. The only thing that affects the quality of a USB microphone is the circuitry of the actual microphone/headset. This will be a big improvement in quality compared to analog microphones for anyone with an integrated sound card. This headset is great for gaming and anyone who wants to dip their toes into recording gameplay footage and audio at the same time. The microphone foam sound guard helps reduce background noise and just capture your voice, so even live speech is pretty free of whirring computer fans and the like. The background noise is so minimal that recording in audacity while playing intensive games still allows you to use the noise removal tool to cut background noise out completely while maintaining the fidelity of your own voice and other sounds. That said, the microphone pads feel older and stiffer than most you'd find on modern headsets and headphones. The headband is also uncushioned, consisting of a stiff plastic arc covered in leather. This makes it inflexible out of the box, so you better hope that this headset fits your head on the first try with little finagling, otherwise that stiff plastic arc may be pressing the ear pads against your head a little hard. To make matter worse the ear pads can rotate up and down, but not side to side. If you've had headphones which do that you'd be used to being able to set them on your head at any position. Also be aware if you're someone who moves their torso or head a decent amount while using a headset that the CAD U2 headset may have a noticeable amount of sound leaking. The ear pads aren't flush with your ears if you wear the headset at certain angles, or if it moves during use and you'll have worse sound isolation. The pads will also press on just half your ear instead of all of it, increasing the pressure and discomfort if you let it sit in that position too long.

other than that they are great,, good sound and the mic works very ...
The only drawback, it's not a full over the ear cup...other than that they are great,, good sound and the mic works very well also...I would give it a 4 and a half if I could... :) Geeeez I just about forgot, these have metal sliders as opposed to plastic for adjusting head and ear fit.
