The only product that worked for me.
The only product that worked for me. I have a natural stone fireplace surround, with a concrete hearth, that had about 75 years of soot and stains. I tried countless other cleaners specifically formulated for fireplaces, along with recommended cleaners from YouTube, and nothing else did anything more than take a little bit of soot off the surface. This stuff is a gel that penetrated into the stone and grout surfaces, and with some brushing, it pulled out all the stains. I kept the stone "wet" with gel for at least 10 minutes. Then used clean water and a brush to rinse away the soot. Could not be happier with the results.

IT WORKS!!!
I needed something to clean a brick fireplace and insert. I was skeptical, and nervous it would discolor the bricks. To my surprise it did not effect the natural colors, but it did infact clean and remove burn and soot stains

Solid product overall
I’m overall a quality product. I followed the instructions ,and liberally applied the product and let it sit. As you can see in the before pic - there was quite a lot of buildup. I used my cordless drill with brush attachment to save on the elbow grease and gave the firebox a once over. I used the entire bottle. I’m sure overall pleased and how improved it looks but could apply a second treatment or a stronger product to completely remove the creosote. I did appreciate the product didn’t have an intense toxic odor.

HARD TO STAY IN PLACE
Before we bought out house there had been a fireplace fire. the outside bricks on the top and sides were black. This product is called a 'gel', which is a similar consistency to pudding. If I was scrubbing bricks on the floor - it might have worked better, but the gel did not stay on the sides or top bricks well. It did take some off, but after repeated applications it did not clean the top bricks entirely. The side bricks hardly were touched. I would not recommend this product for the price. The directions say to use the scrub brush or a scrubbing sponge to apply the product - the gel falls off everything. I ended up using my hand and cradling the hand with the gel with my other hand to catch what fell off, which was most of it. Very disappointed.

Works great
It made cleaning the brick around my fireplace insert a breeze and the glass just wiped right off and both of them were pretty bad.

Difficult to Use, Not Really a Gel
I have a custom-made mantel that is neither stone nor brick, so I am not suggesting that the product can't work on those. However, good luck applying this "gel". The product is viscous. I shook the container for about 60 seconds until it looked homogenous. Since most mantels are parallel to the wall, you would want a gel to go on and stay to do its work. This product is way too liquid for that. First I tried with the included brush and succeeded only in making a mess. Then I tried with a scrub brush. It went on but quickly slid off. I tried leaving it on for five minutes and then rinsing with hot water, but it did not clean the mantel.

Works really well
There was so much black soot on my fireplace stone over the opening, I didn't think anything would take it off with out a huge mess, but this stuff did.I used the little brush that was provided with itthe material, followed directions and wow, does my stone look like it did long ago.Great stuff

Awesome!
So full disclosure, I’m going to whitewash the fireplace tomorrow so I didn’t scrub super hard. I left this on just enough to put the cleaner on with the brush over the full fireplace and then I started at the beginning to wipe it off. I found a sponge was easier to wipe it off. And I also put down the plastic tarp that came with the whitewash kit. And I was glad since the brush sort of sprays it everywhere. Our fireplace hasn’t been used in years and it was the headboard for the bed in that room when we bought the house a year ago. This was the family room in the 70’s. No clue when that room was converted to the main suite. Basically I’m not sure when it was cleaned last but it didn’t seem super dirty.Where you see how well this product works is right above the boarded up hearth. Again, I barely scrubbed and it was left on there for maybe 15 minutes.Based upon just that part, I’d say, it’s a quick and easy product to use with amazing results.
