Jemma Kidd Make-Up Secrets: Solutions to Every Woman's Beauty Issues and Make-Up Dilemmas

Hands down, this is the best book out there. Every page gives useful information and it is extremely well organized. In each chapter. she addresses how this topic applies to every woman and breaks it down by category (for eyes, the four main shapes & techniques specific to each, for skin tone she explains which color works for different complexions and why). Finally, she provides the pro's and con's (which method is harder, which brush works better for certain things but are worse for other uses, etc.).This is easy to follow while being full of insights used by the pro's. Her approach is "show and tell"- there are pictures or photos depicting every step without overloading the reader. Best of all, after reading this book, I find her highly credible. She shares her preferred products - some are fancy but quite a few can be found in your local drugstore. Her information is useful. accessible and practical. In short, she's the real deal- her tips make sense and can easily be incorporated in any beauty routine.I was especially impressed with her knowledge and understanding about how what you directly eat impacts what you see in the mirror. This was extremely informative, especially the recommendations offered (telling readers what to eat to help common complaints). I have not seen this explained so clearly or comprehensively as she did.This isn't about how to apply make-up but so much more. She clearly thought about it from a reader perspective- addressing and providing solutions for many different kinds of women. First book I read from her and will certainly not be the last. I'm a big fan. Every woman (from 15-70) should own a copy.Thanks for all the useful feedback, Jemma!

This book has so many clear explanations about the what /why/where of makeup, explaining the reasons behinds many techniques. I read about it in Vogue or somewhere and had to get it for myself. I learned a lot of valuable skincare and health as well as makeup tips. Jemma Kidd has that cool British way of instructing the reader about what to do/not do to look one's best. Then I had grown women friends fall in love with the book. A couple of them got the book for their teenage daughters because some advice applies to young skin and she really helps those girls not look overly-made-up.I also bought it for a school Secret Santa for a 13 year old girl - she absolutely loves it and so do her friends. This is a great gift for any woman from 13- on up. I have to buy another one because a friend took mine overseas...I really need that book - I have a few events to go to and I need the excellent guidelines for day/night/glamour/office/skincare and diet. If you buy this book and leave it on your table or coffee table,woman will find it engrossing, informative and entertaining. Highly recommended.

i never really wear make up before. But because i was breaking out and the acne's just left me a bad scars on my face, so i have to hide them and start using make up. I purchased this book to give me knowledge about make up on how to, what to do and not to do. I'm glad i purchased this book coz i learned a lot from it. It is very informative. Now, i learned to do smokey eyes and all that. I'm learning everyday about make up and also how to take care of our skin. This book will give guide you also on what make up suppose to be look like during the night and day. It also have a guide on recreating the looks for different occasions. I received my copy of Jemma Kidd's latest book this morning and having thought there wasn't anything to add from her brilliant first one (Jemma Kidd Make-Up), I have been thrilled to find that this one is packed with even more beautiful pictures, step-by-step instructions and practical advice: even an experienced make-up artist will find gems of information!The book is divided in to two sections: Part 1 'Making Make-up Work for You' which includes working with your skin-tone, best looks for different eye shapes and even recreating iconic make-up looks like Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. Part 2: 'The Problem Solver' addresses multiple beauty & skincare concerns, including how to use make-up to look younger...perfect!! There are also 5 minute examples of a 'date' look and 'work' look to name just a couple.Jemma has a wonderful writing style of educating women without patronising them and instead gives them the tools to use make-up with confidence. I am so impressed with this book that I plan to purchase more for my girlfriends as birthday/Christmas gifts as I know they will love it too. Highly highly recommended.
