Sound Amazing with little to no tweaks done. Can't Beat this tape. 40+ year old Maxell UD/XLI goes for about 20-30 less... here this brand new tape with a case for a touch more. If you want the best sounding tape avaible this is really it.

The Red Reels are cool - I was a bit concerned with 1mil thickness but I notice no audible difference @ 7.5 ips or 15 ips - no stretch (make sure your deck is properly mechanically calibrated - pinch wheel tension and brakes - Amazon has great price on good quality Ohaus spring scales to set pinch roller tension & brake tension. Also setting correct record bias for this tape formula and thickness will make a good quality recording GREAT quality with excellent channel separation and no bleed through if recording 4 track - I use a Otari 2T Record/2T Reproduce with a 4T reproduce only - so all my recordings are one direction 2T /2 channel only. I would recommend 7.5" ips for extended bass response (20 hz) and same high end as at 15 ips (22K hz ) for most recordings, at 15 ips bass is 30 hz.

The media could not be loaded. Just finished refurbishing and recalibrating my Teac A-3340S and this is the perfect tape to compliment such an excellent machine. Customer support at ATR Magnetics is superb (yes, I had a few dumb questions that needed answering). There's something warm yet dynamic and embracing with tape renderings, and ATR MDS-36 certainly does not disappoint. Got more of their tape and accessories ordered..... Great stuff!

I have used quite a few open reel tapes over the years. If you own a reel to reel you know that all tapes do not sound alike. On my machine I have to say that these tapes deliver the goods (Both sides). No tape shed since I have been using them, or problems with squeaks in the tape transport. The coating they apply to the tape is a bit strong and that worried me at first but the scent does dissipate in a few days, and I have not had any problems. No drop outs, or dull spots at all. I REALLY love these tapes. If you love recording you owe it to yourself to give these a try. I purchased the red take up reel to match and the red reels really make my tape deck pop.

It is great that there is still a company making these tapes new. The tape quality is excellent. I do wish it came with leader tape, which would help keep the tape from unspooling while in storage and transport.

I've ordered this several times and it always works great on my Teac X-1000R. I would second some of the other comments that it would be great if there was leader on it, but overall awesome sounding tape!

Quality recording tape from one of the few companies still producing open reel tape. The price is about what you would expect when you compare it to quality tape prices made in the 70s and 80s. The sound quality is as good as any tape I’ve heard.One complaint is there is no leader on the tape.

I recorded music on this tape and when I play it back to listen to what I recorded the tape has bad spots in it , it has a lot of bad spots in it . It's defective . I paid over 100 dollars for it. Refund would be nice.
