While looking online for a replacement socket for my folding umbrella-style clothesline that was being displaced due to the pouring of a patio I ran across this awesome product. I like that it isn't necessarily a permanent installation and doesn't require concrete to hold it in place. Our soil has a very high clay content so it was a bit difficult to screw into position, we had to back it out and water the hole a couple of times before success, but it didn't require digging a hole, is definitely sturdy and is going nowhere soon. If I discover that the clothesline isn't in the best location in the yard it can be screwed back out and moved, something not practical with any other socket I looked at. And it comes with 3 adapter rings which can accommodate several different pole sizes so if my clothesline ever needs to be replaced and the pole is different I won't have to start all over. Win, win.

Worked as it should, HARD to put in
We bought this to relocate a clothesline. The product worked as it was designed, it is HUGE so be prepared for that. Also it took 2 of us to get it all the way screwed into the ground and because of its design, there isn't a way to know that it's in crooked until you're finished. So our clothesline has a pretty drastic lean on it so I'll need to take it back out next spring and do it over again.

Mine broke trying to screw it into the ground.
It is actually manufactured as two pieces. Look in the picture and in the middle, you can see a coupler. The instructions say that you don't use the lower half if you are going to put it into concrete. But if you are going to concrete you wouldn't buy this thing in the first place. You would buy a cheaper non-screw unit if you are going to concrete it. So it makes no sense to have a concrete option for it.So, I was screwing it into the ground and the coupler broke. I think if it was the exact design except in one piece, it would work fine.

It works !
A bit hard to screw in once the thicker part was entering the ground, but putting water around as the directions suggested cleared that problem. The pole is wobbly because the socket is measured in millimeters and the pole in inches.. If the manufacturer is selling these in the U.S., it would be nice to have an appropriate adaptor (-s). THH

Works great for my 11' wide
Works great for my 11' wide, 1.8" Market Umbrella I bought from Costco. I thought my umbrella might topple over since the insertion length is not that long, but it didn't. Easy to install, needed to put some muscle into it towards the end. Installed in Louisiana soil/clay after a hard rain. Would definitely recommend to anyone as long as you don't have Texas clay or something super hard like that.

Heavy duty, Easy Installation
Excellent Product! It was very easy to install , even in Northern California clay soil. It comes with three different collarsfor three different size diameter poles, which slip into place very easily. I was also happy to see there is a cap it to keep debris out of the tube which attaches to the socket. My umbrella laundry pole dryer was able to rotate freely , as I hung up or unloaded the items. It lies level with the ground, as well.

This broke while trying to screw into the ground and we ended up not being able to use it at all. Very disappointed that this happened and the quality of it wasn't stronger.

This worked like a charm
Used this for our clothesline. The original socket is in the ground at our old place. Outdoor clothesline company went out of business years ago and I needed something to put in the ground. This worked like a charm. Our umbrella also works in this socket so it pulls double duty.
