It Just Works! (tm)
I needed a second Ethernet interface on my Linux Mint 18 laptop. I plugged it into the laptop and a gigabit switch, and I had gig speed and an IP address before I could type "ip addr". For anyone keeping track, this is Linux kernel version 4.13.0, and it's a Realtek chip needing kernel modules xhci_hcd, r8152, and cdc_ether.

Saved the day ( and my money)
$20 and I don't have to buy a new motherboard. Ethernet got flaky with on board Ethernet and i had no more card slots available. This took care of the problem.

Did not work on Chromebook
This did not work on my chromebook. It looked like it was rebooting itself every few seconds. I couldn't even try to alter its configuration in the OS, because every time it rebooted it would disappear from the configuration menu.

Does it's job well
Very good. Works perfectly, and at a decent price too. Helped me rebuild my slim work laptop which required a physical network connection. Excellent purchase.

Plug and Play on opensuse linux
Plug & Play on opensuse Linux 3.16.7-48. if it is not recognized a driver (AX88179) can be downloaded.

I'm using this adapter with Linux 4.7.9 and it worked out-of-the-box, like a charm, no extra configuration needed.
