I've tried this with wax melts and fragrant oils, and it works really well and looks gorgeous. The base is ceramic but painted for a wood effect (wasn't expecting this but certainly safer than real timber would be!) and the entire thing lifts off - not just the top plate - it looks like a dish on top, but is in fact fixed to the dragonfly decorated cylinder so it's easy to remove to blow out the tea light when you're ready. Well packed, would make a lovely gift.

Lovely burner but trouble blowing the candle out when finished using as the case is too hot to lift off to reveal the candle, usually end up trying to blow it out through the design holes.
