Phoenix 11.5' Square Sun Shade Sail Complete Home Kit Desert Sand Color

I've given a slight bump on stars since I'm sitting outside under the cover now, and not sweating to death. The shade is good quality, strong material and stitching. A general complaint I have with all these shade sails is they're not true square, in fact if you look closely at the manufacturer photos you'll see they've been Photoshopped to look square. I knew this when I bought it but, buyer beware. So what this means is, in my application there are gaps along the sides that allow in the sun. I may go back and pull the shade even further under the eaves to try and fix it -- but, that means rehanging. Yeah, hanging is fun times. It took my mom and I several hours to hang this -- the instructions don't lie, planning your anchor points is VERY important.My biggest complaint with this product is the hardware. The instructions say four turnbuckles are to be included, but the photo is accurate -- there are only two. You'll need to buy more, or plan which corners will be your "tightening" corners. Also, per other reviews, don't even bother trying to use the screws that come with, they're very cheap. Instead, we pre-drilled pilot holes and used hex-head wood screws, tightened with a ratchet. I feel this is not only more secure, but much easier to install than using a drill/screwdriver. Another tip, the instructions suggest using these special little u-bolt type things to help secure the ropes (instead of tying knots) -- we happened to have some and yes, they do make things easier.

I had the opportunity to review this and a very similar size coolaroo product which we ordered at the same time. Both claimed to come complete and ready to mount but only THIS product actually included metal hardware - the other was simply fabric loops with nylon rope.The fabric on this was a superior color, provided a very nice level of shade without feeling "dark"...in fact, this provides a nice "glow" which is really nice. Mounting and installation was a breeze. We opted for a side of the house area where the sun is pure punishment. I agree with others who mention replacing the nylon rope with metal - a move we intend to make.Otherwise, the only major negative was the CHEAP screws included with the set. Yes, they will get the job done but are very easy to strip due to how soft they are. Plan to replace them asap for something that will last longer.Overall, a quality product that is easy to install, looks good and is well priced.

Having ordered my sun shade a month ago I have learned some things That might help others. My biggest problem with the product is the difficulty finding the correct fixing points, ie where or what to attach the sail. On my deck I had to make my own from lumber since my deck is only 20 by 10 and my sail is square. This is not attractive and I plan to change lumber to steel post. I am also switching the nylon rope to wire..However the sail lets me have much more time on the deck by blocking the hot rays of the sun and enjoy the look and movement of the sail. I probably should have got a rectangular sail in my situation.I think one should call an expert on how , where and what shape would work for your situation. Still love the product.

Not a bad deal for $22 compared to all the other pricier options out there. I used it to cover over my existing pergola since it gets really hot under the sun. It made our sitting area cooler and bearable. The sunlight also is allowed through a bit so you get a bit of sandy-colored sunlit filtering. The rings made it easy for me to tie it down. The corners stretch out a bit so it's not a perfect square. Kind of resembles a flying squirrel type shape. :) I plan on taking it down when not in use to make it last longer.

I have a south facing patio that was to hot in the afternoon to sit on. this product solved the problem and as a bonus it came with all the hardware to mount it and it was all stainless steel. I found the same hardware at OSH and it cost nearly as much as the this whole kit so it was almost like getting the shade free. If you have looked at this type product on ebay or amazon you probably noticed that the prices are all over the map. This product is well made and only time will tell how long the fabric holds up in the sun but I would recommend it as a very good deal.

I live in Southern California where summer heat can be brutal! This shade sail does the trick. Cheapest price around with fast delivery! I used it across my driveway to keep the car in the shade. The wind blows right thru it , but the son keeps it cool! I fastened one end to the eves on the house and the other three to tree branches on the lawn and other side of the driveway. Works perfect. You may need longer rope to make it stretch farther.

This would have gotten five stars except the supplied hardware is of very poor quality. I substituted all the screws. This sun shade sail provides just the right amount of cover for sitting on the deck in the sun. Great buy.

I had a 'sand' colored shade sail from a different company that is more tan, like in the picture for this product. I was hoping this sail would be the same color but it's much more yellow. For the price I'm not complaining.
