The Two-Pencil Method: The Revolutionary Approach to Drawing It All

This book is essential to all levels of artists. I used in my class for seniors and it was so much fun. Some fairly new artists and some with advanced degrees, and all turned out very well. I have gifted his books to teen artists with a good eye, and more advanced artists just for a change/challenge.You can also find art demos by Mark C. on YouTube.

I have been drawing for years and wanted to try his as the method was new to me. It is well written and easy to follow. Great for a beginner and advanced if you don't know this method.

Mark Crilley’s instructions are right on. I’ve been following him on YouTube and with all the instructors I have watched he is the best. He doesn’t go too fast and he is very specific. His books follow suit. He also has a fun sense of humor.To add to this review. I read this book twice before actually drawing. I have been doing his sketches and it really opens my eyes to drawing. He reminds me to really look at something while I’m drawing it.

The title of this book really got to me. I wondered what this new revolutionary method was. I received the book on-time and in good shape. I haven't really read it yet but I did look through it. Not sure I saw anything that was "revolutionary" but the book has great illustrations and good text. I will enjoy following along with the author.

I've watched Mark Crilley's videos for several years on YouTube. I'm an amateur artist who enjoys graphite pencil and charcoal.I bought 3 of his books to support him as an author and YouTube provider. "The Two Pencil Method" is the fourth. The book brings his YouTube lessons together in one place. It is an excellent reference with good examples and exercises. Crilley covers portraits, animals, landscapes and still life in this book. I'm sure the book will improve many people's artwork. This book has a minimalist and inexpensive approach to art supplies ... you can probably get by with $20 or so. Follow his advice and get good quality paper.Maybe it is being in my 70s but I find the book easier to follow than videos. I feel comfortable with and like the feel of a book.

I first discovered Mark Crilley on Youtube. After watching several of his videos, I have purchased a few of his books and they have all improved my drawing skills dramatically, including this one.I love how Mark gets you started with two simple pencils and doesn't suggest buying a bunch of crap you don't necessarily need. Art can be accessible to anyone, no matter your budget. With a bit of practice, you can get great results with just two pencils.Another great thing is Mark doesn't just leave you hanging with progressive, step-by-step photos of drawings, he actually explains what to do and why it works. This is a great buy for any artist and I'm really looking forward to finishing all of the exercises.

First, allow me the explanation of the rating: One star is automatic because I like the author; Second star because I like the material; the remaining three to rate the presentation and explanation of the material.The material gets one star from me due to difficulties navigating the book. In several instances (over a dozen), the pages right after the introduction to what was being drawn would not advance. I had to manually put in a Go To location to get to the first step of many drawing instructions. This was very frustrating and more irritating as I progressed through the book. Even worse, some of the introductions or explanations were incomplete. Sentences would just stop with nothing to help it make sense.I even downloaded the book to a couple of different devices (a Samsung tablet and my laptop) and the problem persisted. Even using the table of contents to get to each section did nothing to present all of the pages. As weird as it sounds, scrolling backwards through the pages didn't help.Unfortunately, I will be requesting a refund and I will try another book of this type at a later date.

Nice book with useful instructions

Great book!It really helps you to improve your drawing skills and offers good ideas for your subjects. I really like it.

If you are trying to get going for a long time ar are just starting, this book makes it very easy to get a solid beginning without having supplies get in the way.

I absolutely love this book, it has really helped me with my shading and getting depth into my drawing, I wish I had found this book earlier. On the downside if you have not got a clue how to start with the shapes you are drawing it won't help you it assumes you have a level of drawing capability to start with but if you want help to get depth and life like quality to a drawing this will really help you.

It's a wonderful book :-) I always loved drawing with pencils. I watched Mark Crilley's videos on youtube for years now. That's where I first saw him using the two pencil method! So I was so excited waiting for this book! It's everything I wished for. :-)
