Great tool!
Very good tool that easily locates the center of a stud and has a hold to mark the spot with a pencil.

Does the job
I think this is a pretty useful product. I'm not sure how to compare but it does the job. I found the studs in the wall with no problem. I mean it’s Dewalt, it’s a reputable brand

Always works
I bought this several years ago and it worked wonderfully. And another house I have I decided to buy another stud finder and I bought a cheap one and it did not work. I then bought one of these and it once again it was perfect I highly recommend it.

Garbage dewalt gimmick product
Tried this on my office wall that I had built a few years ago. Apparently, I live wires all through out my wall and only put a stud about every 2 foot. Honestly, Dewalt's quality and innovation has really gone downhill since they moved everything to China and Mexico. This is just a gimmick device that Dewalt came out with in reaction to other tool brands coming out with new stuff. I knew it was going to be bad when I opened the package and found two batteries of the "Daily-Max" brand to which they put a piece of paper over so you couldn't see the brand. Then, when you install them, you see just how much of a piece of garbage this "tool" is. I'm returning this and going to try and find a Milwaukee brand or just go back to zircon.

About what you pay for
It works about as well as any stud finder I’ve used before. I had to triple check the studs it was detecting to make sure they were actually there since I quickly figured out it was giving lots of false positives. Feels a little cheap for dewalt, but it was inexpensive. The hole in the middle for drawing your mark though is extremely helpful. The arrows are more helpful than not. Sliding it along drywall is okay, could be smoother.

Worked for me!
So I was very skeptical to purchase this after seeing the reviews, however it was on sale and I love DeWalt products plus I like to develop opinions based on my own experiences so I bought it to give it a try, at first I when holding it outside the package I thought to myself this is so lightweight and cheap now I see what everyone was talking about. However when I tested it several times over and over it was spot on atleast 90-95% of the time! Both with studs and live wire! Not saying the folks who couldn’t get it to work don’t know what they’re doing but for me it really did work and I was very pleased with it, even tested it against a 3 in 1 more expensive finder I have and this was quicker to detect the objects and from much further away as compared to my “better” one. For the folks who can’t get it to be accurate I would not read the instructions but watch the video so you can see how to really use it, make sure your walls aren’t too thick, make sure they are actually drywall and not plaster or any other material, make sure you lay it flat on the wall and hold the middle button until the lights minus the power light go off, make sure your moving it in one direction on the wall not changing your height or position on the wall it should be slow smooth slides in one direction also not up and down and back and forth on the wall, just one clean slow uni-directional movement. Also you have to keep your hand in the same position once it’s on the wall you can’t be moving your fingers or hands at all, this will throw off the calibration, you also need to make sure your opposite hand and arm are at your side and away from the hand with the finder if you touch the wall with your other hand or even bring it near the hand your using to locate the stud it will throw off the calibration. If you do all of these steps and it’s still not working for you maybe it isn’t the best product and I lucked out. However I must say I am fully impressed by this stud finder.

Saved my bacon
The stud that I was about to screw into had a AC powerline on the side that this device detected.
