Inch by Inch

Leo Lionni is a fantastic children's story teller. this book is no exception. the little worm loves measuring everything...and is very sly when it comes to measuring a surprise item for the nightingale... so that the nightingale doesn't gobble him up! illustrations are beautiful and the story is wonderful as it begins introducing and teaching little ones about rulers and measuring. i used this book at a book themed baby shower...and put it along side the tape measure that we used to measure mommy to be's tummy. the correct guesser went home with a gift...and the mommy to be went home with the book for baby.

Great fun to read with 3 year old. The art is wonderful and fun to discover where the inchworm is on each page. Child liked to measurethe different parts of the birds with a ruler. Did not find the measurements to be the same as in the book.

I have loved this book all of my 57 years. I was heartbroken when my younger sister got it when my parents divided the Myriad of children's books between us and our two older sisters. It was tattered, the cover lost, and riddled with scribbles. Yet, loved and beloved. It broke my heart that it was out of print for years. What a joy to have it back! Now my grandchildren can fall in love with this amazing, gentle book.

My daughter loves this book. Honestly I wasn’t super impressed my first read. But as kids do, she taught me to slow down and watch the inch worm as he moves across the pages. I would recommend this book.

Leo Lionni books are a favorite. Illustrations are unique and imaginative- great for children to be exposed to.
