Never Again
I bought this because I thought I could trust Intel and this is 'an Intel company.' Nope. Not again. I bought the one for three computers. Great price. It loaded correctly on only one of my computers, and when I sought some tech support, I ended up talking to IYogi in India. After an hour and a quarter, all I had was a high pressure sales attempt and a feeling of vulnerability because I had allowed them access to my computer. Of the six 'problems' they found on my computer I checked after I finally got off the phone, and at least three were not a problem at all. They wanted $199 to 'fix' the one computer and download McAfee for me. What a deal! It took me 15 minutes to convince the person on the other end of the line that I wasn't ready to commit. Once off the phone, I checked with a tech savvy friend who said to dump McAfee and get Kaspersky, so that's what I did. The result was that I paid $20 for a lesson in why not to ever buy or trust McAfee. Now I have Kaspersky on all three computers, and my brief, 2 day, run-in with McAfee is a sad and bitter memory. I've never given a single star before, but there is a first time for anything. Hope this saves others from making the same mistake that I made.

Won't run a scan more often than weekly?????
I got a trial version of McAfee Internet Security with a new Windows 7 Pro computer. It would not update more than once a week. I am used to running a scan in the wee small hours of every day. On every computer. Could not tell from the McAfee website if Total Protection 2014 ran more often, but tried it. Only scans once a week. You can make it scan less often. You can pick a different day of the week or a different time of day, but you cannot make it scan more than once a week. What do they care if it scans every night or not? I have been doing this for years on many Windows computers and I do not wear out hard drives any faster than anyone else. They update in the background, and you can run a scan while you are at the keyboard, but I want to run a scan when no one is at the keyboard.I had no problem removing Microsoft Security Essentials from tow computers, McAfee Internet security from one and McAfee Enterprise (Oh, that's a horrible program; interferes so often) and installing four instances of Total Protection 2014 with two product keys. You only need the product key for the first of three installs. In the second and third install, McAfee gives you a serial number to use instead of the product key. I was sick of using McAfee Enterprise and my network guy said that MSSE is too lightweight for an office. I sure wish it would scan every night.

SCREWS UP REGISTRY: YOU'LL BECOME FRIENDS WITH TECHNICAL SERVICE!!!
Too bad I can't give this product a ZERO! I have used McAfee for virus protection since the days of DOS, but this will be my last year with McAfee. Beginning a few months ago, when in the process of updating, quite FREQUENTLY the installation phase hangs up. The icon shows "0 per cent " completed, even after waiting an hour. From that point, because you can't access the McAfee main page nor will the Virtual Technician program work properly, the only way you can clear the McAfee update installation is to reboot your computer. After rebooting, sometimes you can resolve the problem by running Virtual Technician again, while at other times it will not. (I believe the problem is in the Registry.) At this point you can either contact technical service and spend hours typing, phone them and spend about half that time, or just go ahead and uninstall and reinstall the whole software. YOU'LL BECOME FRIENDS WITH TECHNICAL SERVICE, I assure you. Since I am in the midst of this problem at this moment, I've decided to just go ahead and uninstall/reinstall and save an hour's time. If I'm foolish enough, even after almost 3 decades, to continue with McAfee, then I deserve the problems.Update April 9, 2014: I am in the midst of this problem again. Virtual Technician could not resolve all the problems. So, once again I'll have to contact Tech Service or re-install the software. Uninstalling/Re-installing is faster.

The Very Best in Computer Security
McAfee Total Protection is THE BEST in my opinion! I have used Total Protection on two computers and two smartphones since 2007. During that time I have had no problems with viruses, malware or anything else getting through to my computer. Every once in awhile, it will tell me it has stopped an attack, isolated something and allows me to see it, to choose to keep it isolated, delete it, or send to McAfee for examination. I just renewed my subscription last month for another year. I love all of the special features such as complete shredding, quick clean and numerous other features. Amazon prices for this security program can not be beaten! I could not recommend this Top of the Line program any higher!!!

Seems to work well
I have experimented with the "off-brand", lower cost, even free apps as well as some of the more costly "name brand" products with varied results. Some were "you got what you paid for", many of them blocked known, clean websites, (even my internals) and let some nefarious ons through. Some were memory/cpu hogs rendering your computer pretty much useless to do anything but check for malware. (more on this later)The price was right, the company is reputable, and seems to do its job allowing "good" traffic through, at the worst, first asking you, and, most important, this app doesn't seem to hog a whole lot of cpu horsepower like others do . (I wont mention names but the cpu hog app's name starts with Sym, ends with antec and has a 360 behind it. )Be advised, however, that once you register your first (of three) licenses, the clock has started on ALL THREE licenses. You better be ready to install #2 & #3 shortly after you have installed #1.
