Love them
I have been crocheting a few months now, and have tried many different hooks in my quest to find the ones I liked best. The first two hooks I purchased were simple bamboo ChiaoGoo hooks, which everyone spoke highly of. I didn't really like them, and I replaced them with some Amour hooks. Loved those hooks quite a bit, and would totally recommend them to anyone. For the next project I needed a size I could not find at the store I was in, so I grabbed a set of those basic aluminum Boye hooks... hated them! So I got more Armour and decided they were my faves... until I once again couldn't find the right size, but further down the aisle these Soft Touch hooks were waiting for me. I must say that I may love these even more than the Armour! I really can't decide, although I am leaning a bit towards the Soft Touch only for the handles. I would happily use either of these hooks... Clover rocks. The yarn slides smoothly and easily on the hook, and the wide "flat" shape of the handle makes it very easy to control. They made my life as a beginner a little easier!(The only other hooks I have tried in addition to the ones above were the LiteHooks... didn't like those either. They don't glide smoothly, and the squeak as the yarn rubs against them)Update: I’ve been crocheting a lot longer now and have decided that the Soft Touch hooks are perfect for when you’re using “knife hold” and Amour are perfect for “pen hold.” I held my hook in the less common “knife hold” for the longest time because the more traditional “pen hold” just felt awkward. Then I started a blanket with heavy, chunky yarn and somehow it made the “pen hold” feel more comfortable than the way I usually held the hook… by the end of that project I was mostly converted to the “pen hold” and gained a new understanding of the different handle styles of Amour and Soft Touch.

Kind of Disappointed : (
I heard many great things about the Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hook and in all my searchings this one repeatedly was rated highly. I wore my less expensive 3mm hook out (yes, it's possible : ) so I treated myself to the Clover Soft Touch. Much to my chagrin when I excitedly started using the hook it felt like the handle was kind of scraping my palm. Upon further inspection there is a seam on both sides of the handle (where the two sides are joined) that isn't flush with the rest of the handle and is rough. I knew that with the amount of time I spend crocheting, that trivial little seam will cause irritation in my palm. Since I didn't want to send it back (because I'm lazy that way) I decided to try sanding the seam down with sand paper so it's flush with the handle. The sanding worked so I'll be keeping and using the hook. I know if you buy these hooks in a set it's quite pricey, so I'm wondering if I got a bum hook. I don't know. I don't think I'll be taking any more chances buying another one (even though the sanding worked) when I eventually wear out the other hooks I have.Addendum: I've been using this hook for a little while now since I sanded the rough seam and I have to say that I really do like this hook. I have smaller hands and my stitches are naturally tighter with this hook which is perfect for amigurumi work. I may buy another size in this hook again, even if I have to sand off the seam of each hook in order to use it. I'm going to leave my 3 star rating because I don't think I should have to use sandpaper on the handle... that step should be done by the makers of the hook.
