TimexExpedition Scout Men's 40 mm Watch

I love this watch - it has a really good heavy feel to it, and it feels like a much more expensive watch than it is. A decidedly different quality from the retail shop fashion watch I had bought - which cost £25 and lasted 2 months.I was worried this watch would look too large on my wrist (which is very small) but it doesn't; it looks the size of an average mans watch. The face is really clear, the cream colour has real depth, the matt black surround feels really substantial, and the matt black hands and numbers show up really clearly. The calendar lens with the date is quite small - I have to look carefully to see what it says. But the rest of it is so beautiful I will happily put up with that., The night light system is fantastic - I can even work out the time without my glasses on when I cannot see the numbers at all. The leather strap has an oiled leather look to it, and so far has proven to be very substantial, despite having been in the washing up water a few times. The strap is also malleable and very easy to wear. This is definitely not the Timex of my childhood, which had put me off them - I thought - forever. I have used this watch now for a few months and purchased as I needed a 'daily' that was robust. I work as a firefighter so the watch can find itself subject to wet, dry, cold, hot, day, and night.I had just broken two other watches so didn't hold much hope for toughness. But on that front, this watch has not let me down. It has been very robust and clearly the Timex quality shows through.In terms of features, this watch also surprises. Yes, I knew the face would illuminate but I was surprised by just how much it did and with such a light pressure on the crown. This came in handy on a number of jobs where it was pitch black but I needed to note time. The dials also have luminescence so even without the backlight it was easy to see in bed.The accuracy and motion are the only two very minor criticisms. The accuracy seems to have dropped a second or two Vs my trusty but old automatic motion watches, off considering it is a Quartz. The motion used is also very loud. I could hear the ticking from my wrist in a waiting room, and if wearing to bed I can hear it through the pillow. Versus a Fossil Quartz I had, this motion is notably louder by at least double. Very liveable but as a result I prefer to wear my Vostok or Seiko 5 automatics despite their greater fragility.Overall, highly recommend as this is very durable, used by me very frequently, and has survived fire related work abuse very well versus other brands double the money inc a Seiko 5 Sport (lost a crystal), Fossil Quartz (chipped crystal and stopped ticking, presumed flat), and a Rotary automatic (seized the balance spring). But if you get irritated by sounds, you may be best to avoid.

A great field watch. Solidly built to last. Very accurate so far. Good value for money. Very happy with this watch.

I have a small watch collection, including an Apple and a few more expensive ones. So I was looking for an inexpensive watch that I didn’t have to worry about when I’m doing gardening and other projects. At the same time, I wanted one that didn’t feel plasticky and unsatisfying to wear.I’m glad to recommend that the Timex Expedition fits the bill perfectly. Nicely weighted brass case (which feels substantial and much more expensive than it is), and a very crisp dial, I’m happy to wear it on any occasion.My wrist is about 19-20cm and the leather strap supplied fits me perfectly. With numerous colours to choose from, you can’t go wrong for a no nonsense but handsome daily watch.

...this watch is so cheap.I bought this back in May of last year, so less than a year ago. Yesterday, the Indiglo function broke. The switch still works as there's a tiny portion of the watch that still illuminates at the bottom of the dial. I contacted Timex about a warranty repair and was told two to three months to have the work done!! It hardly seems worth it for a feature that I barely use, and one that, due to the oversized crown, I found myself unintentionally activating on frequent occasions. Talking of the crown, it is frustratingly easy to catch on everything from sleeves to bag straps - I wonder if this is the reason that so many reviewers complain that the crown simply broke off after a little while. Other than that, it's an okay watch, the strap stains fairly easily, the case gets scratched pretty easily too, but it looks okay despite this. It's smart and its cheap and I've had compliments about how nice it is, but the overall durability and practicality don't really impress. I don't think I'd go for another.

Timeless Timex. Pretty much since being taught to tell the time I've worn a Timex except for a few years in the 80's wearing a Casio databank, who didn't in those days.Clear easy to read watch even with my failing eyes and no readers the hands are very easily legible.Would I buy one again? Of course, value for money, durability and even able to see the time with its built in light without looking at your phone when you're bursting for your 3am pee. Old age comes to us all if we're lucky enough.

The size of watch is perfect. It fits/sits quite nicely on wrist. It feels like an expensive watch. And it’s rugged so you can wear it to walks, hiking and during rough works. The dial looks amazing and the weight of watch is also quite adequate. It keeps time well (set and forget). Functionality wise, it’s a very good value of money!
