soundmaster URD480 Digital FM / DAB Clock Radio & CD Player with CD Resume Function plus USB MP3 playback

I'd recently moved and required something that looked right in my new bedroom to replace a large black boogie-box thing so my main criteria to be honest was looks. I then couldn't decide whether I wanted a CD/radio, or a CD/Alarm clock, and had spent some time searching, so was therefore delighted to find this product, which is CD, DAB Radio and Alarm all in one.So, the positives: The item looks great. It's mainly white with a silver frontage. It is retro in looks. It is much smaller than I had expected but actually this works even better from an aesthetic point of view. It is unobtrusive, stylish and smart looking. The sound quality is pretty good considering its size and if it's just being used for a bedroom or smaller room then it is perfect. The digital display has three settings so you can have it turned off at night which is something I've struggled with on other CD alarms where the digital display was always visible. Not so with this, like I say, it can be turned off. I tuned in the DAB radio and got something like 75 channels, which is great. The alarm is very easy to set too once you've changed the language from German into English! There is an option for 2 alarm settings and you can select whether its the CD or radio that wakes you, together with the volume you want to be woken up with.Downsides: As mentioned, the language needs to be changed into English. This is easily done by referring to the manual. My only real downside therefore is that the product is a little 'clunky' to use. The buttons are press-buttons and not dials, which makes scrolling through the radio stations a little cumbersome. There is an option to save channels to favourites so this is the thing to do as otherwise you really would have to spend a while scrolling through with the button to get to different radio stations . A remote control would be perfect but sadly not included with this.Conclusion: So far, so good. Am very happy with the product and love having a combined CD, radio and alarm in a stylish product that is perhaps slightly overpriced due to the clunkiness of use but in all other aspects is a winner.

Nice retro look. Clean lines. A smaller version would be great. Can set alarm for CD wake up. Dimmer on display. Good sound.

I got the clock radio CD player in good time and I am very happy with it. The sound is good. It looks good and is nice and compact - perfect or a bedside table.

I bought this to go on a bedside cabinet as I enjoy listening to audio books before sleeping. It is a compact size and the quaity is good. The alarm (s) can be set so that you can wake up to cd or radio or buzzer. Very versatile and in my opinion good value for money.

Difficult to review this product totally as I haven't got round to using all the features yet. I would say it is a good solid well made piece of kit, clear tone, and easy to programme DAB stations, There are instructions telling you how to change from German to English but haven't been able to do this yet, but as the station name, music is in English anyway it is not an issue. The only downside I have found so far is, when you scroll through the station's details ie. signal strength, wave length etc. it gives you the time, but the time doesn't move on, so if you fall asleep with the radio on, you can't tell the time which defeats the object of having a clock/radio by your bed. You have to switch the radio off to see the clock part, there is nothing in the instructions about this. (My previous radio showed the correct time whether on or off)

Very disappointed with sound quality. The advertising said something about a boom box, huh rubbish.

I rather like the look and some of the functions of this unit however the 1st one I received had two problems. The CD player was exceptionally noisy , which is an issue for a bedside unit, but more of an issue for me was that the unit didn't tune into many of the BBC stations on DAB. The supplier was very responsive and replaced the unit.The 2nd unit however suffered from the same issues in tuning into BBC stations on DAB. I again returned the unit and got a refund. The supplier insists there was nothing wrong with the unit and that at their offices, it tuned OK.Not quite right though as I live in Central London, and have 4/5 other DAB radios in the house and ALL of them pick up all the BBC stations. I'd suggest it has a design or manufacture fault.

nice and easy to set up. time comes up automatically when plug in to mains. cd player is on the top. make sure you take out the travelling paper bar. nice sound. Looks good.not used the alarm section as never bought for that, but looks as though the on screen information is in german. Not had a look on instructions to see if this can be changed. It does what I need it to do, so I am happy.
