Great DSP Engine, Rough Build Quality
The synth sounds fantastic. Lovely oscillators and filters. An excellent synth for warbling, evolving pads and unique sound FX. The build quality however is pretty cheap, flimsy plastic, the cap touch keyboard is just terrible to play on but luckily it has full size MIDI DIN connections so I just connect to my keyboard. The free software editor is excellent and well responsive.Overall, despite my build niggles this is an excellent buy and adds what my setup really needed, a pad machine. I only wish I could remove the awful keyboard and just use as a desktop module.

Does extractly what you want it for... PADS, PADS, PADS
This was my first Hardware Synth I've purchased and so far I'm really impressed with it. It took me sometime to figure out how to sync it up with Ableton and a Midi Controller but once I got that figured out WOW.I bought this synth primarily for Synth Pad sounds that could complement my music and ITS PERFECT.Super happy with it!

You pay for what you get
Extremely cheaply made. But if you're looking for something to travel with, this is great. If it's just the price, stop, save your money, buy a cheap studio synth. (Sh201, gaia, mikrokorg.)This this is actually reall good at making pads, but other th as n that, it's really thin and is lacking in bass. Cutoff filter is extremely underwhelming.

Fantastic pad monster
I love this synth, it has tons of character for being all digital. Its really a pad monster and the app to control it is fantastic. You cant beat this for the money.

Fantastic Synth - Almost
I'll leave the specs to the spec sheet. The important things for me:PROS:Great pad sounds (really lush and dynamic)Fantastic Bass (This has been a problem on a lot of digital synths, but the low end does not muddy on most patches)Randomize function - not finding a preset that suits your needs? Randomize!8 measures of recording. Perfect for chord - based arpeggios and sweeping pads and string sounds.CONS:No step sequencer. This is really a downer for me. I like to be exact in my note placement, and this makes it much more difficult without programming from an external source. (this could easily happen with a firmware update) (please?)No Quantize. Since I have to sequence real-time and play live, a quantize option would have been nice. There is a tendency for the 16/16th note of the last measure to be triggered instead of the 1/16th of the first measure. That could be fixed with:No Begin record on play: If the recording began on the first note hit, that would eliminate most of my other problems. All in all, a really great synth with a lot of power and a lot of flexibility. Definitely recommend.

Great little synth.
I got it for $250 so, maybe my view point is different, but I couldn't be more happy with it. It sounds fantastic, and the mod sources are really powerful. The delay is versital as well. Can be like a reverb. The software is simple to use to help you get started with what everything does. I had it pretty much figured out in one afternoon. It is made to a price point, so I guess if you are expecting moog rotary knobs, maybe your expectation are off. They designed it to give you the biggest bang for the buck. The encoders feal cheap, yes, but they work very well.My only complaint is that it is a bit hard to read the face. Black face with small letters. I'm going to get some colored vinyl dot stickers and group the knob tops to help me for when the light is dim. Other then that, it is good for all kind of sounds. Bass, leads, Pads. I can't figure out what some of these other reviewers are talking about saying it is only good for This or that sound. It is good for all kinds of things, and it's got a huge bottom end if you dial it in. With so much analogue stuff on the market, you have great options. I wanted a digital synth that was small and powerful and I got it. I'm going to keep an eye on the used market too and pick up a second one to get 8 voices. That's is a pretty great option, too, btw.

OK Starter Synth
You can learn a lot about synthesis with the SKULPT, and you can have some fun with it. If you get one, plan on using a separate keyboard, as the one it has is capacitive: the keys don't move.If you're planning on using the manual, plan on some laughs; it's a complete amateur job. Finally, while the instrument's modulation capabilities are extensive, the software (which is free) is an utter pain to use, and it's at its worst when selecting modulation sources and destinations. That's a pity, because the SKULPT has pretty good mod abilities, but the software makes them no fun at all to use.
