Yet another successful attic photo for the collection
My rental has this weird DIY attic cover that I doubt worked well. It was just a layer of double faced fiberglass taped with metallic duct sealing tape. That’s…. not really an air seal. This is a much better solution and based on my current home my tenants wont see little tufts of insulation get blown through the access door when a storm is howling. The DIY cover fits over it as a nice insulating hat.Installation took 10 minutes. I didn’t realize this came with a staple gun and I used my own instead. The included one seems fine but it’ll likely stay in the packaging for a long time. The instructions on their website are good though the layout of my attic access meant I just stapled to the top of the top plate and didn’t need the double stick tape. It’s not as “aesthetic” as it’s slightly shifted but the attic access springs are in the way. Considering no one is going to ever look at this and go “what a work of art!” I think we’re fine with how I installed it. When I’m done with some other work in the attic I’ll hit it with some fire seal foam to fully air seal it. Remember that staples and foam are also not a real seal even if the cellulose insulation stops raining down on you.

We needed this years ago!
We have a set of attic stairs in our hall and the temperature there is always way different than any where else in the house. This was so easy to put up and we noticed the difference within an hour. I wish we had found this years ago!

Attic boot
Helped keep the heat in the attics and out of the home. Fairly easy to install. It was a good price.

Attic Cover
I used some double-sided 3M tape and a Stanley staple gun to replace the insulation blanket that the builder left. There’s a slight sagging in the middle, but I don’t think that will affect its intended purpose. Took about 10-15 minutes to install
