Is there a vent under the grate to allow moisture to drain if it gets left uncovered in the rain?

There is a hole in the center of the dish. It has a nut and bolt in it. I removed them so it could drain in the event water gets inside.

I live in Miami Fl and it rains frequently here. Should i be worried that this fire pit will rust and wont last?

If you leave it out in the rain without covering it, it will rust. Especially since it will catch water in the bowl. I would suggest at the very least buying a cover to go with it or move it inside when it rains.

What is the distance between the legs? Would it go on a 26"x26" deck defender?

Yes, it should fit comfortably if you turn the fire pit so that the legs are aligned with the corners of the deck defender. The fire pit has four legs that form a square or diamond pattern. If you think of each leg as sitting at the corner of the square, the distance between the two on the same side of the square is a bit over 20" and the diagonal distance between the two legs on opposite sides of the table is just under 29" (the distances are with regard to the curved metal legs and would be about an inch less if you leave the leveling legs attached). The diagonal distance between corners on a 26"x26" deck defender will be just under 37", so you should be fine as long as you orient the fire pit legs to sit in those corners. In other words, the footprint of the square the fire pit legs form is smaller than the square of the 26"x26" deck defender.
