SunSun JVP-101B 793 GPH Aquarium Wavemaker Powerhead with Magnet Clamp Base

For the price, this is an absolutely great deal on this product. I was setting up plans for a reef tank several months ago. During the planning stages I looked at several different ideas for filtration. i settled for doing a skimmer plus a lot of water movement. You can certainly go and invest several hundred dollars in pumps that are rated at or below this SunSun pump. What I did was purchase this and several other similar pumps and still probably saved over 90% off of what I would have paid otherwise. I understand that these pumps may not last years or maybe not even one year. With that said, it is great to have back ups in the event that it does stop working. The only concern I would have about this pump would be a small animal (i.e. a shrimp) getting too close to the intake and being seriously harmed or killed by the suction. So far though my clownfish have come near it but they are quickly pushed away by the forward motion of the pump. Indeed it appears as though the pump works in a way to keep fish and other animals in the tank from having the "opportunity" to get to no-fish land. Again, this is a great value for a pump that is rated so highly on GPH output. While I have no idea if it is even close to the rated 793 gph output, it certainly works well with others in the tank to provide a nice current that all of the livestock in my tank loves and I know for sure that it provides higher output than a better known brand that cost 5x more. Definitely give it a shot. The worst that can happen is you're out much less than you would be if you bought a so-called higher end wavemaker pump.

I purchased these because they were so much more inexpensive than the units I had been using. However, when I began using them, there was a loud bang every time they started up. I emailed the company and was told they had to run continuously and could not be hooked up to a wave machine or they would self destruct. As stand alone pumps they're alright, but if they won't work with the timers, it would be nice if it said that somewhere in the listing. If it had, I never would have purchased them.

I'm a bit of novice when it comes to my reef tank. At the same time I read a lot about the hobby and after a few years now. I have come to realize, like I think everyone else that enjoys this hobby has. IT IS EXPENSIVE! That being said when I started my tank I had bought some Hydor pumps and they were working fine, for a few years now. Then, the pumps started to die. I was trying to see if I could find something as good but cheaper . So here I am, buying the Sun Sun pump to replace my Hydor. I was so happy that it was working so well that I went and bought 2 more just in case another pump went bad. I ended up buying 3 pumps for the price of 1 Hydor. Well now it's been a few months and let me tell you that out of the 3 pumps I bought. Only one is working now. I used one Sun Sun pump to replace the other one that failed on me. The other pump that I had as a back up didn't work at all. Now I regret going the cheap route. I should have stuck with what I have. I have learned my lesson. I will never buy a Sun Sun pump again.

I purchased two of these for my 130 gallon saltwater aquarium to eliminate dead spots. I placed them on opposite corners facing each other....one slightly pointing up to create surface aggitation and one slightly down to improve current across my sand bed. The magnets are crazy strong! The power heads are mounted on a swivel ball and are easy to adjust in any direction. The pumps are quiet and powerful. I used a little flake food so that I could see the current flow. I had no increase in water temperature. These are great pumps for the price. Definitely a satisfied customer!

This wavemaker does what it says! Great in our 65g tank it surely moves the water and hasn't given any problems so far. The magnet is very strong and holds in place. The only thing I would say isn't a plus is the size, it feels a little large when looking from outside but again for the price it's offered at definitely an awesome value for your money...would highly recommend if you're starting out your tank and looking for an inexpensive way to move the water adequately.

Product was everything i needed for my 40 gallon breeder tank. Wish the cord was maybe 6 inches long for more versatility but it could just be my placement

To be honest, I'm not sure what I expected from a 22 dollar powerhead, but I think I expected it to feel like it'll last longer than a few months. This is very, very cheaply made. There's no cord protector to keep the fish or inverts from messing with the power supply. The magnet is strong and that's good. It certainly works, and it's easy as pie to install. It's just clearly cheap. This is a "you get what you pay for" situation.

Works great. Big price difference just for the magnet, but still half the price of others. I have several sunsun wavemakers that are 5 plus years old and work great. The more expensive ones don't last long for me.
