Q: Is this specific canister for engine compartment or does it go by fuel tank?

This specific canister is located in the engine compartment near the throttle body/carburetor and only requires a 10 mm socket to remove. This is not the piece located on the tank that is the vapor canister.

Q: Will this fit 1987 trans am I been lookin ? and I can't fit the egr solenoid I can't pass smog with out it any suggestions

I highly doubt that a part for a 2015 vehicle would fit a 1987 vehicle without some serious retrofitting 🤔.

Q: This part kills P0449 code?

Yes, my CEL was on with the P0449 code.on my 2015 Acadia. I replaced this part, and the CEL eventually went out after a few driving cycles.

Q: If this part is bad does it cause vacuum leak problems such as stuttering?

Yes it could. To confirm the vacuum valve is working, remove it & try to blow through it, if you can blow air trough, then it is leaking. It should open only after start up.
