A Wholesome and Hearty Breakfast Staple
As a health-conscious individual always on the lookout for nutritious breakfast options, I was excited to try Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats in the sizable 54 Oz package. Here’s my comprehensive review after incorporating these oats into my morning routine.**Quality and Texture:** The quality of Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats is immediately noticeable. The oats are uniform in size and have a beautiful, natural appearance. When cooked, they offer a delightful chewy texture, which is a pleasant departure from the often mushy texture of rolled oats.**Flavor:** These steel-cut oats have a wonderfully nutty and wholesome flavor. They are less processed than other types of oats, which seems to enhance their natural, earthy taste. This makes them an excellent canvas for a variety of toppings and mix-ins.**Nutritional Value:** Packed with fiber and protein, these oats are a filling and nutritious choice for breakfast. They provide sustained energy throughout the morning, which is perfect for those with active lifestyles or anyone looking for a fulfilling start to their day.**Cooking Time:** Steel-cut oats generally take longer to cook than rolled or instant oats. However, I found that the cooking process for Bob's Red Mill is straightforward and worth the extra time. The end result is a hearty and satisfying meal.**Versatility:** These oats are incredibly versatile. They're not only great for a classic bowl of oatmeal but also work well in recipes like overnight oats, oatmeal bakes, and even savory porridge. Their robust texture holds up well in various preparations.**Packaging:** The packaging is simple, sturdy, and resealable, which helps keep the oats fresh. The 54 Oz size offers great value, especially for those who consume oats regularly.**Price Point:** Given the quality and quantity, the price is reasonable. Bob's Red Mill is a trusted brand known for its commitment to high-quality, natural products, and these oats are no exception.**Conclusion:** Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats are an excellent choice for anyone looking for a nutritious, versatile, and tasty breakfast option. The texture, flavor, and quality set these oats apart from other options on the market. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast, a busy professional, or someone who enjoys a hearty breakfast, these steel-cut oats are sure to satisfy. They’re a staple in my kitchen now, and I highly recommend them to others.

Easy prep, stores great, great diet food too
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Bob's Red Mill has a great reputation in my house so I decided to try this because it's 0 points on my WW diet. I love it. It's my go-to every morning for breakfast (with a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup that only adds 1 point!). It's only got one ingredient, non-GMO. I make up a batch of 6 servings and I'm ready for the week, storing the leftovers in the refrigerator. It's slightly chunky/chewy, not smooth like regular oatmeal or Scottish oats. Good flavor and filling. It fits my diet perfectly. Easy to prepare--stovetop or microwave or slow cooker. I prefer it on the stove top. Overall, it's what I've come to expect from Bob's Red Mill products.

The Gold Standard for Steel Cut Oats. Hands-Free Instant Pot Prep Method Friendly
This review is for Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats, 24-ounce (Pack of 4). I purchased this in my search for a replacement for my other brand of "cracked n' toasted" oats that a big box store was no longer carrying. The oats come in a branded resealable bag emblazoned with a lot of messaging on the front, including "an employee-owned company", "the 100% whole grain award winning cereal", and "the Golden Spurtle". What I especially liked about this bag is that there are a few transparent sections near the bottom that lets you see the actual steel cut oats inside. Looking inside the bag, the oats appear to be of high quality and there is minimal/no? sediment. The back side of the bag includes your standard Nutrition Facts, a brief blurb about the Golden Spurtle, and a couple of preparation methods (stovetop and traditional slow cooker).Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats are true steel cut oats that have that fantastic bite, texture, and inherent dietary benefits you would expect from steel cut oats. I performed a quick comparison of rolled, "cracked n' toasted", and Bob's steel cut oats using Nutrition Facts (normalized for serving size) and was surprised to find that Bob's steel cut oats provide almost double the calories, total fat, total carbohydrates, dietary fiber, total sugars, and proteins vs. an equivalent amount of rolled oats. I believe much of that is due to steel cut oats being almost 4x denser/compact than rolled oats with a side benefit of providing a longer sensation of being full.My go-to prep method for steel cut oats is to add 1 cup water with 1/3 cup steel cut oats (3:1 ratio) to an Instant Pot, set it for five minutes high pressure on manual, and then natural release. Total hands-free cooking time from pressing the button to when the float valve drops is 15-20 minutes. Afterwards you can spice it up with a sprinkle of matcha, cookie crumbs (secret weakness), nuts, or even cereal (!). The result is a great bowl of steel cut oatmeal with a slight nutty flavor and almost "Q" texture to it that is an improvement over my previous go-to brand.Overall, I would recommend Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats as the gold standard for steel cut oats. They are high quality and are easy to use for a delicious bowl of oatmeal.

Good oats and healthy
This will be a repear purchase for me. I make it in 2 hours in my small slow cooker. It makes four servings. It is a great way to have the healthiest oats with ease. Yum....The old fashioned way, per my Mom, is to add butter and brown sugar. Worth the splurge. Yum Yum.

Still the Best
Have used Bob's Red Mill products for years and they've never disappointed. Prefer steel cut oats over rolled oats since they are less processed and prefer Bob's over other steel cut oat brands due to their creamier texture and nuttier flavor. Since steel cut oats take longer to prepare, I cook them overnight in a 2qt. slow cooker.
