Not seen in picture, connect the Venturi hose to both the silencer inside the red riser and the the pump
This is the new Elite 200 review and once again instructions are lacking but the skimmer is top notch. If I were to give one simple instruction that is not anywhere yet it has to do with the Venturi hose and its new location with the new design. The hose goes from the pump into the hole at the bottom of the riser/valve for flow adjustment as seen in the picture but not shown is that inside the riser it must be connected to the tube at the top where it draws air from through silencer into the water pump. It must be snaked through the riser and connected to the silencer at one end and the pump on the other end. The silencer only goes on one way and intuition tells you (because there are no instructions) to put the two red tubes together first BUT prior to doing that you need to connect the hose to the silencer and snake the hose through the hole at the bottom of the riser. THEN put the two red tubes together and hook the hose to the Venturi. As always, all protein skimmers need to have a constant water level so you need to have something rigged for automatic top off to compensate for evaporation in the sump. I use an ATO resivior and after one month now, it pulls off waste like a champ. Remember that it takes a week or two to break in and develop a slime coat. Do yourself a favor and watch the videos on YouTube from the prior model because many steps are the same. The PVC is no longer off white but white with the newer model. I use it on my 200 gallon reef tank with moderate stock and I'm very pleased with it. Happy reefing!
