RideSafer Type 3 GEN3 Travel Vest - Black/Grey - Small

The vest basically pulls the seat belt shoulder strap down, rather than boost the child up like a booster seat would. You are mostly paying for the product testing and the no-doubt interminable bureaucracy the manufacturer has suffered, more than the physical product. But it is worth it to have an effective option for car rides. More portable than e.g. an inflatable booster seat. The child thinks it is super cool (that might wear off, not sure).There are two versions, the GEN2 has a crotch strap and anchor strap, and is probably an even safer option if you are using it in your own car. If you are jumping into someone else's car then this GEN3 just needs the seat belt strap correctly routed so is much easier/faster. The information and videos on the manufacturer website is solid and practical with a minimum of marketing B.S. The product is called 'Ride Safer' and not 'Ride Safe' hyperbole like it was some form of magic - I appreciate that.

Not so safe, I don't even recommend it

We love this travel vest. We purchased it for our 4 year old after we saw other daycare parents using it on field trip days. We not only use it on those days, but when we travel (by plane), or when others are going to take him in their car. It is 10 times easier than having to lug around a car seat and I know it puts other who don't install a car seat regularly (grandparents), at ease. Our son loves it, too, and enjoys wearing it. Worth the price and will be happy to use it for our other child down the road.

We bought this mainly because my daughter kept unbuckling herself from her 5 point harness. She LOVES this vest. She loves that she's sitting directly on the seat and she can sit in between her two big sisters. It's easy to transfer between vehicles. The straps are easily adjustable and I feel like she will get a few years of use out of this vest. She happily puts it on and leaves it on! The only downside is that when she falls asleep she leans over bad. I try to keep a pillow in the car for the times when she doesn't have a sister to lean on.

I live in NYC and this is a life-saver. Cab drivers love it too. I have had several thank me for using it. Also great for travel abroad. I would still use a proper car seat if getting on major highways (for crash protection), but for short trips, this is awesome.

Great option for traveling abroad when you don't rent your own car. Light and easy to carry. My daughter (3.5) was very happy with it.
