Can I power it from a cigarette lighter socket?

When I was a fitter 23 years ago the cig socket was about 4amps. The newer the car I think they increased it. But to what I do not know. These winches when under load i think will require more than a cig socket will provide. Read your car handbook and also the manual that came with winch. Fuses are a great thing.

if i buy two to use at the same time - can they be run independently. Ie are the remotes on different frequencies?

I am using this with a 12 heavy duty battery charged of a solar panel. If you use on a car with a standard battery I suggest you keep the engine running so as not to flatten your battery. I drove a small plant recovery wagon and that is how I overcame the flat battery situation . Hope this helps. It is powered by the cables supplied. The wireless remote works well.
