soft brushes and their variety of sizes make for good and smooth and even application. The roses and thorns are beautiful and it is easy to hold them and use them. I was afraid the thorns may make it awkward to hold and use, but they do not hinder application or the hand at all. The brushes themselves are very light, which also helps in making them easy to use and to manipulate the makeup and blending. I got this as a gift for a friend and she says she loves them because they are so pretty but also super practical and useful and just all-around good, soft brushes. I also got a set for myself and I agree. The soft brushes and light handles help blend my (drugstore, ELF brand) makeup, and my friend uses a higher end brand of eye shadow (I forget the name). They're beautiful and functional.
