Has interesting facts in it
Used it as a supplement reading for my child's homeschool curriculum. It has some very interesting facts in it. Easy to read.I would recommend if you're looking for a book on some lesser known things.Bought new, arrived in new condition.

Older book, but still very good
This book was published back in 2003--ancient by modern scientific standards. That said, most of the topics covered have already more or less been settled, so Dr. Joe here isn't causing any problems. In Dr. Joe, you'll learn about a variety of chemistry topics that you might run into in your daily life, ranging from how Velcro was invented to why the potatoes in your Xmas pudding turn black. Each topic is treated more like a "did you know?" bit of trivia, so don't expect a lot of depth. As with most good books of this type, however, there are plenty of keywords for you to latch onto should you desire to do more research. This one is a lot of fun, with an easy-to-understand (for the most part) approach. I recommend it.

Informative, but does not apply to everyday life
The questions are not really about “everyday life” as the title suggests. I’ve never seen a bombardier beetle (question 17) and a cockroach surely never entered my ear, and I don’t know anyone who had this problem (question 18).
