Bought this to comply with the new shore base shark fishing regulations, but COVID-19 put the brakes on our annual vacation to FL, so never got to use them on a shark. I had to settle with practicing on catfish and northern pike here in NY. They work great to remove barbless circle hooks from catfish and un-hooking pike from lures with treble hooks. With pike, it keeps your hand away from both the teeth and the flopping trebles when the fish decides to do a bit of thrashing. Very sturdy and easy to use. Gets hooks out quickly, minimizing trauma/stress to the fish when catch & release fishing for any species, while protecting your hands from potential injuries when removing treble hook lures from toothy pike.
