Great thermometer
I bought a smaller River Country to add to my kettle grill. When the thermometer went out on my bullet smoker, I knew exactly what to buy to replace it. I like the larger size of this. T-Roy has an even bigger one on his 22” smoker. This one is big enough for my cooks.

Really Nice Smoker Thermometer - Really Nice
I ordered this smoker thermometer last week and installed it this weekend. I replaced my factory Masterbuilt thermometer which is only 2" and was hard to see the numbers on the dial. I did adjust it slightly...just a smidge to the left by using the calibration screw at the back of the thermometer. Really love it. It is pretty accurate and matches the temperature with another internal thermometer that I put inside the smoker. Really easy to read the numbers on the thermometer and I love the colored sections. You can really see from far where the dial is on the thermometer. I can just look outside and see if it has gone up or down.I had looked at quite a few near professional ones, and even one that is very expensive. But this is a great value and is accurate.

Great product at a FAIR price. Quality isn't cheap.
Yes you are going to spend a little more for this thermometer than other models. But if you need accuracy and durability, then there is no other option. I bought four of these for my large smoker, once placed every few feet. They provide measurements which are in line with my digital thermometer that I place near my meat.Just a tip about installation. You don't need a big tool to cut a hole into your smoker. Even if the metal is thick. My smoker was made out of 3/4 inch steel. But a HOLE SAW attached to a drill did just fine. Just make sure to FIRST use the drill guide without the hole saw attached. Then once you've drilled a small hole with the drill guide, then you can attach the hole saw to the drill guide and drill the appropriate sized hole.

I bought 2...
Works so well I bought 2. 1 for my Weber Kettle and 1 for my Weber Smokey Mountain. Set for 212 in boiling water, install and just let it do its thing.

The heat is on.
Upgrading my old Ducane gas BBQ for smoking. Had no thermometer, what did I know. Drilled hole, was able to tap a pretty mangled hole with 1/2" NPT tap, not required as it has a locking nut to secure installation, but I had the tap. That was the hard part, once the hole was made the package openned easily and installation was a little righty-tighty, check the thermometer to make sure the up side is on the up side, tighten up the lock nut and start sensing the temperature. Checked with known thermometers and what do you know it it was reading the same temperature. The dial is large and clear enough to check on the BBQ temperature from across the back yard. Nice. Place the thermometer in the cooking zone. You will be surprised at the temperature variations inside the closed lid.

One out of two isn't bad
I bought two for my bbq pit. They are easy to read and are accurate. Only problem is that shortly after one of the gages accumulated some moisture under the glass. I thought this would clear, but it has not and has only accumulated more water. I'm guessing that this will eventually shorten the life of the gage.

So far so Good
I wish a thermometer came with every grill. I own a older model Weber One Touch Gold Charcoal Grill that lacked such a feature. The newer One Touch models have since resolved this issued, but if you have an older model like myself, it's up to the grill master to make a rough estimate using your hand over flame technique. Like any man that's serious about grilling, I prefer accuracy over guess work and and this thing met my expectations. The temperature accuracy of this thermometer is spot on. You will need a Step Drill Bit to punch through the grill. The instructions recommend a 13/16 hole, so I would highly recommend you buy a step drill bit that has a 13/16 increment. http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-Quality-Titanium-Step-Drill/dp/B000RP7YI4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1401591388&sr=8-2&keywords=13%2F16+drill+step

3" River Country (RC-T3W) Adjustable BBQ Thermometer
The thermometer is easy to read and seems accurate. It arrived quickly. The way it was packaged for shipping wasn't the best. I received the package with a sticker that said it had been damaged during shipping so I wasn't sure what condition the thermometer would be in until I opened the package. The thermometer didn't appear damaged so I used it and it seem to work fine. River Country needs to do a better job packaging their products.

Worth it.
I purchased two of these as well as one 4" stem gauge (model: RC-T34CC) for my Oklahoma Joe Highland offset smoker. This is in addition to the generic factory temp gauge that came with my smoker. Did the boil test with all 3 and all were spot on right out of the box. The gauges are substantial and feel solid. I'm beginning to understand why I spent much more than I initially expected to. I definitely didn't 'need' 4 gauges for one smoker since I also use a Therma-Pro digital which gives me the most accurate temperature reading right in the center of the cooking chamber, but I'm quite satisfied with my purchase, and digital units can break down which I've experienced unfortunately. Plus, more information is always better than less. I would recommend going with a brand like River Country instead of the other cheaper knock-off type gauges I've seen while searching Amazon. Imho these are not cheap, but they are definitely worth every penny.
