I had given four star for the efforts Ultra had made to remastered this old film. Sound and video is o.k. not properly remastered. Must by for Guru Dutt lovers.

A must in collection
If there was a column to fill 100 stars I would have done filled all the 💯. This is a classic that needed restoration and ultra has done an excellent job. Crisp print and sound clarity is something that you have hardly come across for an old Hindi movie

PERFECT !!!!!!!
I am simply in AWE of Guru Dutt !! The is one of THE BEST movies I have seen. Everything right from the story to the songs and direction is absolutely perfect. I am amazed that such a movie was made in the 1950s.And I am glad that at least I got to see it on DVD and the picture and sound quality are fine.

Shemaroo's DVD cuts off large portions of the picture
To make this DVD fill a 16x9 TV, they simply cut off the top and bottom of the image. The blu-ray from Ultra still has an unfortunate watermark, but is way superior to this one in that it contains the entire image, and the image looks a thousand times better.
