Bali Secrets Natural Deodorant (Sandalwood)

So I'll start by saying that I have had a loooong journey in finding a natural deodorant that works for me. This product is about the 5th one I've tried. Also, when trying these types of products bear in mind that every body is different. The ph of your sweat and how much you sweat etc. is all variable. What works for one person might not work for another.With that being said, I happen to have a sensitivity to baking soda. So all the products that contain baking soda, while they worked great, caused a not great rash. But products without baking soda didn't work at all. I refused to go back to conventional deodorants so I just kept trying different products to find the coveted 'holy grail' of natural deo. Before trying Bali Secrets I had tried Crystal deodorant which is basically a big salt rock that you wet and rub on your arm pits. I had tried it once before when I first 'came off' conventional deodorant and it didn't work at all. But I've learned through this process that initially your body will sweat and stink more when you are detoxing your pits from the chemicals in aluminum based deodorants. So imagine my surprise when I decided to try it again and it worked. And it worked really, really well. Better than any of the baking soda based products I've tried and the best part was no rash. However, with the wetting before application it can get a little messy. And it is a rock salt so it's not the most nourishing for your skin so I was pretty excited to find Bali Secrets.The Crystal deoderant is potassium alum which is the main ingredient in Bali Secrets, but Bali also has aloe and coconut oil to nourish the skin. I was pretty excited to try it but I also knew from previous product trials that it might not work. This was the unfortunate reality with my experience with Bali Secrets. It did not stop my stink. But I still gave this product 5 stars for the following reasons: great ingredients like the aloe and coconut oil, no mess application unlike the Crystal deo, having a naturally scented product is awesome too-I will say the sandlewood is pretty strong at first whiff but don't let that deter you as once applied it fades some and is very pleasant. Also no funky chemicals like in conventional deo. You may read some of these reviews and questions about the potassium alum being similar to the aluminum in conventional deo. And I'm no chemist so maybe their structure is similar but I don't know. What I do know is that natural rock salts have been used for centuries by many cultures for many purposes, so the safety profile of a product like potassium alum is pretty good considering its long and wide spread history of use. Also it's got a good rating with the EWG. So take the pessimistic reviews and comments with a grain of salt.So moral of the story? This seems to be an awesome product that just didn't work with my body chemistry to eliminate odor. That doesn't mean it won't work for you. I definitely felt it was worth the try. Also from reading previous reviews it seems like the company's customer service is pretty phenomenal although I did not interact with them. So give it a try and be realistic and know that you might need to try a lot of different products before you find the one that works for you.

As a breastfeeding mother and health enthusiast, I try to avoid the toxic chemicals in regular deodorant and antiperspirant. However, I am just plain stinky! I am not one of those women who tries to say: "I don't sweat; I glisten..." or some other nonsense. If you see me working, you will see (and maybe smell) me sweating. Nothing ladylike about it. Sometimes even very strong traditional deodorants would not be sufficient to keep the stink under control. But when I began breastfeeding, I began to be concerned about the dangerous chemicals I was applying to my skin which was so close to my baby's face, so finding a natural deodorant which worked became more important than ever.Many natural deodorants employ a baking soda base, which for me leads to skin irritation. I might put up with the irritation if they were effective, but for me they never worked to get protect against the odor either. I've tried approximately 5 or 6 of the baking soda variety with zero success. Crystal stones and liquid crystal versions have also not been successful for me.Enter the Bali Secrets natural deodorant. Three months after ordering my first container, I'm close to being out. I use it daily after a shower, often before bed and again in the morning before getting dressed. I don't stink anymore, no matter how much I sweat. A natural detoxifying period happens when first trying natural deodorant, which can lead to odor, but this period was short and within a couple weeks I was enjoying the freedom of never worrying about how I hugged people at social gatherings for fear of giving BO hugs... which no one likes. The skin under my arms seems healthy, although I've needed to moisturize it more since using this product which contains alcohol.Update: The sandalwood scent which I originally tried was too masculine for me, so once I used it up I ordered the Aloe Delight. I notice less underarm dryness with this one, which is a plus. The scent was not exactly what I was looking for (I wanted something more feminine) but is still very pleasant and clean smelling. It smells like a nice hand soap, with an added scent of aloe (obviously). Still my favorite deodorant!

After years of searching for an organic deodorant that actually got the job done, I was thrilled to find Bali Secrets. Every non-organic deodorant I had tried eventually led to skin rashes/irritations, and other organic brands (notably Herban Cowboy) were just not powerful enough to get me through a long day of work. Bali Secrets has been great on both fronts, leaving my skin without irritation and also producing a pleasant sandalwood scent that lasts all day long. My biggest complaint is the price compared to the quantity of product in one tube; $14.99 is a high price to pay, even for organic deodorant. I was even more bummed out when I had depleted the roller stick in about 5 weeks. A smaller but nonetheless notable issue: based on their scents/name/logo, Bali seems to cater mostly to women. As a man, I wish there were other scents available for guys besides sandalwood.

First, the product works! I have tried and failed with more all natural deodorants. I don’t have sensitive skin but have had issues with many that I have tried. It helps on smell and sweat and lasts a business day, u might need to use a little more in the evening. The bad news is this product is very expensive. Was $13 and is now $14 each. It states it will last 3 months and if you keep shaking it before use maybe u will get 1.5 months. I have tried to correspond twice with manufacturer via their site and through Amazon neither time did they respond. I have had to send back one that didn’t last a month and had a great deal of solids left at the bottom with no liquid. I now open them and add water as the solids left continue to work. I wish this was more affordable and would last the 3 months they claim. I think they need better manufacturing consistency and quality control.
