It is EXCELLENT for spreading prior to of even after shoveling. You DO NOT need a ton; less is more IF you know what I mean. Superior to rock salt and I saved a ton buying right at the end of February as I do every year when the vendors have inventory that they don't want to hold onto for another year. I do this every year IF needed but I have used a variety of chemicals for ice and snow melt and I find that the calcium chloride works the best if not spread too thick.The trick is to dispense with a shaking motion from a plastic cup or scoop (I bought one here on amz. designed for the job for a couple of dollars and it works incredibly well. Very easy on the concrete; not like rock salt or other combinations of "Ice Melt!" I've used this stuff for 30 years and I highly recommend any brand of it. The 100 percent is obviously better because you can use less!Hey folks,....I spend a small fortune in time, enrgy, and moola on stuff that i buy and use here on amamzon so, if this review was HELPFUL....well, you know what to do! I purchased this as a substitute for Dri-Z-Air Crystals and it works beautifully. I have a large basement and found I'd need several of the Dri-Z-Air containers and because I used the pellets upstairs and found them to be quite expensive, I looked for alternative solutions. I purchased this snow and ice melt and made a makeshift dehumidifier which works beautifully! I bought a bucket, placed a plastic (stainless steel will rust) colander on it and poured these pellets into the colander. I covered it with a (grease) splatter screen to keep my curious pets out but found they weren't interested in it anyway. It functions every bit as well as the Dri-Z-Air containers, I don't need to mind it as much and the humidity levels are awesome down there now.

Did not use this as an ice melt. Do not read this review if purchasing for ice melt. I own Dry-Z-Air dehumidifiers which use calcium chloride pellets to collect water from the air. Dry-Z-Air sells their own pellets but charges much more for the same chemical component. I purchased this for about a dollar per pound including shipping as apposed to the five dollars per pound for Dry-Z-Air "special but exactly the same" pellets. No noted change in performance between the two, and the size of the pellets is identical.

Great stuff. Melts the ice very quickly. I have a steep driveway and it gives me peace of mind, as it works quickly to melt away the snow. I recommend it highly. Seems much safer on the concrete than regular rock salt. As I always got lots of pitting on driveway from rock salt. I haven't noticed the same with this product.

This product does everything you could hope for and does it quickly! It won’t make large snowfalls disappear but works well on icy sidewalks and driveways.

Live in Minnesota. Perfect we ran out the of ice melt here in the state. Lol

the snow and ice melt worked perfectly except for the bad snow we had. but it was great as I expected I'd like to get more for next winter.

Best product ever. And Sam's club has it for $20.96 for a 50lb bucket. As an elderly person it makes living in snow country much easier.I'll never use anything else on my steps and 150ft driveway. Thank you.And buy the bucket . It's much easier to handle compared to the bag.
