Simple install and great looks. I can't verify with certainty that the 4" SOCOM mount helps any with accuracy since I installed it on my mini-14 ranch rifle before ever firing it but to me it is worth it just for the looks and to increase the durability of the barrel.

Old but still tacticool!
I just received this in the mail today and have mounted it. In all honesty, I don't really care if it makes my Mini-14 a tack driver or not. Even with optics at my age (70), I'm "minute of barn". I got it because it just LOOKS so DAMN cool. And I just don't take a beating from recoil like I used to so I can substitute the Mini-14 for the Maxi-14!!! I may even go to the range, but the Mini-14 is brand new, never having a round down the tube so there is NO before/after!!! Whatever it shoots, it shoots!!!

Easy install
Very easy to install.Provides a small increase in accuracy by limiting barrel slap--that is all I was after.Better than that is it really looks good.

Worth every penny, get this if it'll fit your mini-14 or mini-30.
I'll start by stating that the rifle this went on is a year 1990 Mini Thirty. When I bought the rifle from a local gun shop, first thing I did some buy some cheap Russian ammo, attach a Burris 1X Prism to it, and put 40 rounds through it at the range shooting in groups of five. Less than half the rounds even hit the target with accuracy decreasing as time went on, not a single bulls eye, and the barrel was hot enough to melt through a rudder protector on the rack. Unhappy with the performance, I looked into methods into making it more accurate, and settled on getting this. It arrived quickly and installed in less than 5 minutes of popping open the package. Took it down to the range today and put 60 rounds through it at a slightly longer distance, shooting in groups of five. Every round hit the target with groupings of 1.75 inches throughout the entire session, I managed to hit the bulls eye a few times after 3 readjustments, and the heat dissipation made the rifle safe to put on the rack. This strut turned a near worthless rifle into a tack driver that had everyone asking where I got it. Going to love to see it's performance when I put good ammunition through it.

Got this to help stabilize the barrel, but did not read the fine print. More for looks than actual stabilizing the barrel, but looks cool.

... your mini 14 and that s not really a good thing considering its pretty heavy already
all this does is add weight to your mini 14 and that s not really a good thing considering its pretty heavy already. it will settle your gun down a little though. It comes loose even after lock lighting it. Not worth the money. Good quality though.

It makes the Mini 14 what it should have been in the first place.
I installed the 4" Accu-Strut on my 184 series Mini 14. The barrel had previously been shortened to 16" and the 4" length worked perfectly. I took care to securely fasten the base of the strut to the gas block, milling recesses for the allen screws, ensuring the strut was aligned with the barrel so that it did not induce any stress on the barrel.Prior to installing the Accu-Strut my 16" Mini-14 shot 4 MOA. After installing the Accu-Strut the group size reduced to around 2.5 MOA due to some residual vertical stringing, but the improvement was significant.I then also installed a Choate ventilated handguard, a Choate M14 style flash suppressor, a .045" gas bushing, and recoil buffer. The combination eliminated the vertical stringing. Since completing the modifications, the groups have been consistently round and the average of the first 4 groups shot was 1.24 MOA, using a Tech Sights RR200 rear sight. Not bad for a pencil barrel 184 series Mini 14.The combination of the Accu-Strut and Choate flash suppressor and handguard give it a distinctly M14 look, even with the shorter 16" barrel.

will not win an you any medals but looks cool and keeps it near the mark
brought groups in tighter for sure. no longer spray and pray. will not win an you any medals but looks cool and keeps it near the mark. if you really want accuracy go with longer version, but this looks cooler and makes a huge difference...used to think my scope was broken lol
