Kanex XD HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Converter for Apple iMac 27 inch screen

A bit fiddly, but does the job.I used this to connect my Sky Q box to my iMac with lightning connector. It enabled me to use my mac as a monitor/screen.

My Kanex XD arrived today and it is perfect. Worked straight out of the box with no software/installation required, just plug n play. I'm using this to connect my work issued Dell E6230 to my Apple 24" Cinema Display via the HDMI output from the laptop.I'm reasonably competent with IT related stuff but I wasn't sure what the resolution of the HDMI output was (the Apple CD 24" requires minimum 1920x1200). I checked by connecting my laptop to my TV to confirm that the laptop could output 1920x1200 so I was confident this would work fine. Many of you will know this but I just thought that I would mention that for those who don't as it wasn't clear whether this would work simply from the tech specs.Anyway, highly recommend this device if you need a way of connecting your HDMI ready laptop to the Apple CD.

Finally managed to get this baby working! The HDMI cable was no good for my PC's graphics card, instead i bought a HDMI to DVI cable and hey presto! We are in business! My only problem so far is that i have just realised the resolution will only work in 720p which looks awful on a 27" screen.

I'd had concerns having read mixed reviews for this item re: connectivity / compatibility. I'd tried to do my homework to make sure it was the right piece of kit- given that its quite a bit of money. I run a mid 2010 27" iMac- which i gather is the critical factor with this item. Plugged in, and hew presto: it ran with my ps4 purchase straight away (cmd & F2). For info, my mac is running the latest os too (el captain I think), so no probs there. Very impressed. And the quality of the gaming far surpasses anything available on the app store. 720p is absolutely fine definition for the 27" screen too.

At home I have a 27"cinema display and MacBook Pro but my employers have provided me with a Dell running Windows 7. On occasions when I have to work at home I wanted to use the display to extend my desktop and this seemed to fit the bill however after weeks of frustration I have given up as it does not work.Firstly there were no printed instructions so I just tried to plug it all together. No luck.After a lot of frustration I went on to the Kanex website to see if there was any online help. Nothing.I emailed Kanex who only told me that my HDMI had to be outputting 720p, but did not advise me how to make that adjustment and when I asked for more details by email there was no reply.Throughout all this I checked yet again that the device would support the cinema display and it stated that it did.While the device is also for connecting games consoles to the cinema display, I do not think that my use case is entirely unusual. I am fairly computer literate and also run my own computer software business where I have put detailed help pages so that most customers can solve their own problems without contacting me - Kanex don't seem to think this is necessary. I am happy to try and resolve issues before sending something back but the almost-total lack of any support has made it impossible.

Perfect. The website didnt inspire much confidence but luckily good old Amazon came to the rescue, a great product - I can now connect the PS4 to my 2010 iMac, the XD came with all the cables I needed - (which I only found out once purchasing other cables..), the cables are great quality as well, all gold plated - not the longest so if you are placing the console further than 30cm away you will need longer cables.

Really happy with this, superb bit of kit. Allows my son to play his PS4 thro our 27" iMac with no problems. Only 720p, which does make a bit of a difference but that fact it works at all is worth it.Highly recommended

Tried lots of other cables/adapters to use my Apple Cinema Monitor with my Windows laptop HDMI out and this was my last resort.Works brilliantly straight out of the box - instantly recognized by Windows 10.Not cheap but definitely worth it.
