Shea Moisture S/m Hair Color Soft Black, 1 Pound

I bought this to dye my locs. My original hair color is a medium brown and I wanted to go darker. I had high hopes after reading reviews on several sites and even watching some video reviews on Youtube, paying close attention to those with locs who used the product. The application process was easy enough. I liked the shampoo, conditioner, and elixir. It smells wonderful and didn't dry my hair out. Also, one box was more than enough to completely cover my entire head and my locs hang nearly to the middle of my back. I bought two boxes but didn't even need the second. Initially the color took really well. But unfortunately it does not last long at all. It says permanent on the box but barely two weeks have passed since I dyed my hair and it's already fading majorly, particularly along the shaft of my locs. I wash my locs every 2 weeks and was surprised that the extent of the fading occurred before I was even due to wash them again. I enjoy other Shea Moisture products but unfortunately this one didn't meet my expectations. I'll probably use the other box since I already bought it but just a warning that the color does not last long.

Absolutely Love this product. The instructions are clear, there is no harsh smell for the color. The coverage was fantastic, and the color is really rich. The instructions even say you can base around your neck, forehead, and ears...(that's old school), who does that...Shea Moisture does that and I love it. I typically don't use Shea Moisture products because the smell is really strong, but that's only my opinion, and the color is so perfect, that I can get around the smell. The kit came with everything which I can appreciate. Most colors only come with a conditioner, but this comes with shampoo, conditioner,an elixir to prevent frizz, and a tint brush...again where are they doing that. I only have good things to say about this color and in 4-6 weeks I will be touching up my color and using this again. The gray is gone...so...how old am I...I just forgot.

I must say opening the box made me happy. Included are travel sizes of the shampoo, conditioner and elixir. Since I already have the full sizes I'm able to save the smaller sizes for traveling. Plus the kit comes with a reusable drawstring bag, a coloring brush and a real pair of stretch gloves. This is a great value!Update March 4, 2017. The price has gone up a whopping $5 a box since my purchase last month; crazy. I can't trust they won't continue gauging me. No longer a great value!Update March 30, 2017- the price has gone up $10 per box since I first started using it and purchasing here on Amazon. It's a great hair color but not enough to pay $25 a box. For $20 more I can get my hair professional done at a salon. I won't be buying it again.

I've used Shea Moisture products previously. I wanted to try the Color System, but could not find it in local stores. The product is pricey, but the packaging and included items are worth the money. Besides the Radiant Color Creme and Developer Creme, there's Shea Moisture Raw Shea Moisture Retention shampoo, Raw Shea Restorative conditioner, Reconstructive Finishing elixir in 2 oz bottles. I've paid $10-20 for one 2 oz. bottle of conditioner from a well-known hair care company. Thank goodness there are professional latex-free gloves included. Not those cheap covers that tear.The color covered my gray completely without drying my hair. There's enough shampoo and condition for a few more applications. The whole system smells great. I will order the Shea Moisture Hair Color System again

My hair came out really dark black. The softness is seen in the matt texture, I have curly hair so I didn’t loose any texture to my hair. I problem I had was my hair texture feeling werid after for a few weeks and dry as well. I think it was more due to needing a deep conditioning or treatment.

Great coloring system. Although, it covered my grays, some of the dye did not wash off after 4 washes ( 2 after application and 2 during individual wash days). Sometime I get black/gray film on my hands when I am moisturize my hair. But overall good coloring system)

Best hair coloring system. This is not mediocre hair dye. It comes with a complete system to revitalize the hair after the process. It includes quality gloves, brush applicator, a large bottle of hair dye, generous size shampoo and conditioner, and oil. I have alot of hair and thought I needed two, but I had some left over after 1 application. My hair is a little past my shoulders. I recommend this dye above all others!

I have to color my hair every 3 weeks and this is the only hair color that saved my life. With any other hair color on the market, the hair color washes away immediately. Not with Shea moisture hair color. My hair color is vibrant, it doesn't destroy my hair, it doesn't smell bad and it really works. I love it!!!
