Good quality, cheap and reliable. A great little drive.
I have had this item for a while now and have found it easy to use and reliable. I bought a mac mini and of course there is no optical drive so i purchase this one. Its good quality with a plastic shell that hasnt been scratched up yet and it simply plugs in to the computer with a USB A lead thats included. No USB C sadly but for the data transfer rate that would be over the top anyway. Computer recognises it straight away. Also a good thing to have for laptops which also mostly have no optical drives these days. I use mine mostly for music archiving and occasional hard back up of music or data. Works flawlessly every time

Excellent value and very well built in comparison with device in expensive desktopAll
All working well and only problem is getting used to the best software. In Windows Media Player I could not always get the rip button so downloaded Nero ripper that was easier to operate. After using Nero ripper was able to burn using Media Player.Came back to Media Player and it seems you have to play the disc and get a pop up in which a tiny rip button appears. You can then select a view list to see the progress of your rip.It is an interesting project to make a back up of special collectors item of classical music using WAV format and only half filling a 75 minute CD R disc. Felt a little concerned that a perfect collection might be spoiled if just kept in the car and just used for casual listening. Thanks Rioddas you have helped save a bit of history as quality CD recordings are best for serious listening.

Good Value External CD/DVD Drive – Works with Windows 11, but Cable is Short
I bought this external CD/DVD drive, and it works as described. The model is BT669. It connects to a computer using a USB port and is powered by DC 5V, 1.5A. The device is light, weighing about 400g, and comes in a compact box (17.2cm × 15.2cm × 2.8cm). It supports both 8cm and 12cm discs and works with DVD and CD formats. The reading speed is DVD-ROM 8x and CD-ROM 24x, while the burning speed is DVD 8x and CD 24x.The packaging says it works with Windows 98, XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10, as well as Mac OS 8.6 and above. I tested it on Windows 11, and it works fine. Some people say that external CD/DVD writers do not work with Windows 11, but this one does.It is easy to use—just plug it into a USB port, and the computer detects it. You can then insert a disc, and it will read or burn as needed. The build quality feels decent, and it is stable when placed on a flat surface. One issue is that the attached USB cable is too short. You either have to let the drive dangle from the port or use an extension cable. This is not a serious problem, but it is slightly annoying. One star off the review because of that. For the price, this is good value. It does what it should, and apart from the short cable, I have had no issues. If you need an external CD/DVD drive, this is a good option.

At last a CD drive that works!
I must confess that I haven't tried writing any discs with this device (nor do I need to), but for reading them I have been pleasantly surprised at how reliable it is. It worked straight away on my Windows 11 system enabling me to try installing some old programs. It runs off my USB 3 port without needing the auxiliary power connection - a feature that persuaded me to try just one more CD drive as I have had problems with this before. Glad I took the chance. And a great price too!

Unusable - returned
Eject button didn't work; could only open it with a bent paper clip in the access hole. Then it wouldn't read disks - CD or DVD. It would spin up but then say there was no disc. Tried on front and rear USB ports of a desktop PC, and on a laptop - same problems. For comparison, the built-in DVD drive on the PC could read all the disks properly. There are many good reviews for this item but in my case I clearly got a bad one. The supplied cables are also ridiculously short. Product returned.UPDATE 15/4/25: I’ve noticed several other people finding the drive useless and just throwing it away. I don’t understand why they don’t return it to Amazon and get a refund, which is what I did. Furthermore, after I’d returned it and had a refund, I got an email claiming to be from the supplier and offering me a replacement / refund. This seems highly suspicious. Their email address looked wrong and the language was poor. Yet how did they get my email address?

Very quick delivery
I was surprised with how quick this was delivered! It only took about 2-3 days. The product looks good quality and was packaged well. I tried it out and it works. It is as described and a very good price. The extra bit that I really like is that the USB lead fits in neatly into the back of the device. Excellent product.

Cable is to short
Worked well and easy to use however the cable attached is very short which disabled the ability to place on top of your desktop or lay flat on your desk.I had to place a couple of books under it to enable it to be flat whilst in use.
