Reef Octopus Classic 110 Space Saver Protein Skimmer NWB110SSS

There are many factors to determine the best skimmer, but for my setup it proves to be the best I have ever owned. Solid construction with fantastic efficiency. Within hours I had almost half a cup of skim mate. Other reviews suggest the packaging was not good at all but I found that the packaging was fantastic? The actual box containing the skimmer was plastic wrapped with another box that had material to cushion and keep it from moving. This skimmer is virtually silent, rubber feet on bottom of skimmer allow no vibration and motor is quiet as can be. As far as water sensitivity, you will not have a problem as long as you have a lid on your aquarium. Water loss is normal and does fine unless water is rapidly lost at abnormal rate. And if you have a lid on your sump, adjustments to the skimmer will be bare minimal. This skimmer is well worth the price.

This is a great product! After almost a year's frustration with a Coralife skimmer, I threw it in the trash (where it works best) and bought a Reef Octopus. I have a 75g with a Eshopps 100 sump so I don't have a lot of space. This fits the bill perfectly. It was easy to set up and adjust. It started pulling skimmate after 2 days and I haven't had to touch it since, except to clean it which is soooo easy. You definitely get what you pay for.

Dial it in and forget about it as long as your water lvl stays the same in your sump perfect for nano tanks, I have it set up on a 30 gallon with limited sump space

Fantastic piece of equipment for the price. Completely silent, easily adjustable when in place in your sump, super efficient, easy to clean. More than enough power. My sump water depth is maintained at just 8", and I have room to spare on the power adjustment. I'd guess it will continue to work well down to a depth of 6" or so, no problem. I can't believe I suffered with my old hang on the back skimmer for so long. Getting lots more dark skimmate with zero noise, and no maintenance so far outside of emptying the cup.

I strongly recommend against purchasing this skimmer. It's so hypersensitive to the water level in your sump that even small amounts of evaporation render it useless (i.e. Nothing collects in the cup). If this had been my first protein skimmer I would have assumed they all require this level of attention. I have nitrate problems with this tank which are largely a result of the poor performance of this skimmer.

I don't know how to rate it because mine came broken on the side where the red tube hangs, since i'm in Colombia i believe i have nothing to do with the issue and guarantee things. So, I fix it with crazy glue and so far so good, it works like a charm.

After literally throwing money away purchasing Coralife protein skimmers, I finally came to my senses and ordered the Reef Octopus Classic 110 space saver protein skimmer. I received it Friday afternoon and by Sunday morning it was already producing nasty green skimmate. As of this morning this skimmer had already produced more than my Coralife 125 skimmer did in the last 2-3 years. The Coralife skimmer would either produce nothing or overflow. I could NEVER hit on the right adjustment. SO BUYERS BEWARE !!! Save your money buy only REEF OCTOPUS products.
