Take it from me who was married 34 years and consider myself to be pretty smart about men, it is never too late to learn.Great men do still exist ~ I met one and after running into heartbreak, games and disillusionment with dating I had almost given up. So anyone reading , this book will help you navigate past the games and confusion of 'less than' men.This book is GOLD.

This book lived up to its reviews, and far exceeded all of my expectations for greatness. I wish I'd had this as a teenager before I destroyed my 37 years with abusive relationships & problems related to my lack of self-worth (due to childhood trauma, abuse & rapes). Then again, I might not have been ready to absorb it then.In any case, this is a MUST HAVE for any woman who's ever been abused, exploited, used or had a string of abusive relationships--or wants to avoid them, meaning every woman alive. Every page described common errors women have made,and I related to all of them! This book covers every single situation anyone could encounter in relationships, even what red flags to look for on 1st dates, with real-life examples everyone will recognize. I found myself laughing at some of my mistakes & grateful for the explicit instructions on how to avoid repeating them.It is now my most-valuable tool towards one day having a mutually healthy life partner. In the meantime, it also will help with all of my other relationships with friends, family, co-workers, etc. I've written in the margins, highlighted just about every page, and will refer to it time & time again as life's challenges give me opportunities to practice the wisdom between these priceless pages. It will be the best money you've ever spent & you're worth it. :-)

this book is published in 2000 as I see. it kind of reminds me the book he's just not that into you, though it is not that brute. it mentions examples of women who end up in relationships that do not work. Using these women the reader can see their ironic situation. What i mean is that, the women are in a bad situation and they can't move on. Most women suffer from this syndrome of not getting out of relationship. So the point of this book is that when you are suffering in a relationship move on, get over him.The reason for not giving it five stars is that there is another whole issue missing and i bet the author must have written it in another book. The reason why relationships don't work does not rely only on men who are afraid to commit but also on clingy women. Of course the author recognizes the behavior of these women but does not give clear suggestions on how these women could change. I am not sure if this issue is addressed in another book.

I am a smart professional woman who has (and still is) learning the "hard way" about relationships. This book is an awesome resource for a quick pick-me-up. It's super easy to read ... You can turn to any page and start reading without being lost. I've "doggy-eared" so many pages that I want to remember so I can flip to them quickly. It's full of one-liner realities that you never think of, but they make a whole lot of sense. Some of my favorites: "Smart women know that a woman's most powerful sense is her sense of self;" or "Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want;" and "Smart women have the sense to appreciate a man who has no interesting problems."I am buying this book for all of my single (and should-be-single) girlfriends for their birthdays... Whether they want it or not! It's a must-read for women who are in the bad habit of not valuing themselves enough in relationships.I highly recommend it!! I carry it in my purse!

Really good book for women ages 20's and 30's. Somewhat dated, but still worthwhile read. Bought one for each of my daughters in their early 20's. They liked it. An easy read, but makes you think! I wish it would be updated for 2020's.

This little book is packed with very relevant and helpful advice. It would be a perfect gift for your teenage daughter before she begins to enter the sometimes confusing dating world. It is based on self respect and making choices that are good for you, first. Women and girls are typically socialized to put others first and in the dating arena. This way of thinking can put a woman in situations that can adversely impact her self esteem and potentially, her life. For a woman reentering the dating world after divorce or death of spouse, it is an especially helpful book. The world and rules are changing and a woman really needs to have a strong base of self respect and an understanding of what she will and will not tolerate in a relationship.

I bought this book for myself and loved it so much I am buying one for a friend. If I could buy one for every female friend and relative and all other women-folk in the world, I would. Instead I'll just write a short positive review and hope it's enough for other women to decide to buy (or find one to borrow) this book. If you know you're supposed to be a smart woman but keep making stupid relationship mistakes, then do buy this book.

I read this book just a few weeks after my ex fiancé left me and it is amazing how much better it made me feel about myself.It also made me realize that several aspects of our Relationship were simply not right and I know now that there were signs which should have warned me.This book gives you the keys for a healthy and constructive Relationship.Read it, you will simply feel good!

I didn't feel like this book brought out anything new. It was all things I would have thought were common sense. I don't think it was worth the money I paid. Maybe it's better for young girls, I'm not sure.It did however raise a few points that although I already knew them, I may have forgotten about them. I personally didn't really like it, but I read it till the end.

A pithy, wise book. Very astute and helpful bullet point format makes it easy to retain key information that the women who buy this book, have had a problem retaining in the past. I would recommend it.

Lots of useful ideas and examples!I saw myself in many of the pages and realise the things I need to change :)
