Best Shield Case out there, by far.
Update: I've had the case for 4 months now. Dropped it hard quite a few times and the tablet is fine. Without this case my tablet definitely would have been broken by now. Great investment, highly recommended. All of the other Shield Tab cases don't look like they would protect anywhere near as well as this one. One more side note. The charger port door is holding on fine, no rips. Examining the case now, it has. Absolutely no wear and tear on it yet. Considering I use my tablet for hours every day, it is in like new condition. I have never used the kick-stand. I prefer to hold my tablet with two hands when using it, or I rest it on something... Considering the amount of time I have spent fiddling with the charger port door for no apparent reason, I am surprised it is in like new condition. Poetic cases are definitely top quality, brute proof.Great case! It looks amazing and I feel that it makes my tablet almost completely drop proof. More companies should make cases for the shield. The power and volume buttons work perfectly. People who have problems probably had the first gen shield that had flush buttons.I'm using this on my Shield Tablet K1 16gb. Fits like a glove. The hole in the case where the stylus would be isn't a big deal, it doesn't compromise the case's integrity or look odd. The case doesn't effect my wifi signal, so gamestream works fine. All in all, I am extremely happy.I'll definitely buy more Poetic products in the future.Side Note. Another reviewer complained that the poetic logo was upside down. This has apparently been fixed, as my logo is correctly positioned.

Solid case, but room for improvement
Nice case, very study, but does have a few flaws.Pros: solid construction; feels like this thing could take some abuse.Padding on back, inside case. That is its padded in the area that will be touching the shield logo on back.Easy to get stylus in and out.Kick stand on back built in for portrait mode. Makes playing games easy.Room for cables: it has room to fit both USB and HDMI without hitting case.Cons: The plastic used is a little on then hard side. Its not like rubber, but its not like the brittle platic. Which leads to problem with pushing button on top, especially the power button. Its very hard to turn the power on and off. I might have to mod it and put something under the bumper (piece that makes contact with actual power button) so its easier to turn on and off. Seriously , it takes quite a bit of pressure to turn it on. I'm hoping it breaks in and becomes easier over time. The plastic screen protector creates a bit of drag with stylis . no where near as smooth as it was on the glass. Again! Maybe this will improve over time. Some people like a little drag as well, so could be a pro for some. The kick stand needs a tab or something to deploy it. Im a guy and my finger nails are trimmed low and I find it diffuclt to get under the small cut out in order to pop it out. I basically need something small, like my pocket knife to deploy it.Overall, Im pretty pleased with the quality of the case and the price is decent, considering they want $40 for the nvidia caseand that doesn't provide complete protection; just covers the front. My biggest complaint is that power button. If it was easier to turn my device on and off this would be 5 stars. I think they just need to soften the plastic up a bit more, or make it raised so it applies more pressure on power button.

Above average case...IF you don't care about using your tablet for drawing and note taking.
Your satisfaction with this case is going to be tied almost directly to how often you intend to use the drawing/writing related stylus features. The case itself is very good for the price. It's a snug fit, without being impossible to peel apart. It's sized very well for the device, with no noticeable movement or slop once it's on. The back piece has just enough of a "soft-touch" feel that it gives a bit more friction and grip for your fingers. I can't speak to the port cover portion losing its "rebound" and not wanting to close yet, but given that it is a somewhat stiffer material than the silicone you would find in an Otterbox product it will not surprise me if/when it happens. The kickstand fits flush to the back and snaps in and out with a perfect compromise of force, but lacks a detent to hold it in place and has a flimsy joint. A number of these will break if they are subjected to heavy field use by, say, an energetic tween or toddler. The built in screen protector actually fits quite well against the device screen and I have not noticed any typing or tactile issues with it yet.Unfortunately, this same built in screen protector is where the case also starts to become significantly less satisfactory IF you actually use the stylus to write and draw. It will work fine for tap/touch games like Shadowrun, but actually using Nvidia Dabbler, Auto Desk Sketchbook, or One Note will quickly become infuriating. This is due to a combination of three factors: The protector film itself being tackier than the screen glass and interacting poorly with the rubber tip of the stylus; the fact that even a very close fitting built-in cover will still have some separation, and that will wreak havoc with the particular type of pseudo-pressure sensitive algorithm that the Shield runs to simulate Wacom performance; and the fact that the screen cover is made of a plastic that manages to stack its own brand of reflective distortion on top of the reflections that the Shield screen already has in brightly lit situations due to its high gloss nature. When trying to use the above listed drawing programs the tablet would actually freak out and create sensory artifacts as is tried to figure out how to interpolate the screen pressure from the stylus and the multiple places the protector was contacting it. NOTE: This ONLY happened in drawing apps, and probably relates directly to the fact that the tablet's pressure sensitivity works overtime for those programs. As a guy with a design degree, but also working daily in a professional military setting, I use my tablet both for taking notes and sketching on my down time in addition to normal things like games and movies. The fact that the case is otherwise so good for the price has almost lead me to consider surgically removing the screen cover and taking my chances with a scratch or two. Conclusion: If the screen cover worked well with the stylus this case would be a definite five star product, because it's price certainly offsets it's other shortcomings. If you just plain don't care about the drawing aspect of this tablet, it's a no-brainer for the price. It may even be a four star item if I surgically remove the screen protector and just review it as protector-less case. However, as it stands, and based on what I use it for, I have to give it three stars.PROs:PriceDevice fitfeaturesOverall protectionCONs:Port flap will likely lose elasticityKickstand is lacklusterMaterials do not scream "premium" like an Otterbox or Lifeproof caseThe screen cover...IF YOU USE IT FOR DRAWING.
