Very comfortable to use
This is a great product! The pestle is very comfortable, allowing me to apply steady pressure. The mortar has a sturdy base and the brushed finish keeps things from slipping away. The handy brush gets all the bits out. I have used it to crush pills and it works great! I have some dried herbs I will try next. Great price and nice looking, too.

It’s the best set you’ll find for grinding/pulverizing pills.
I love it! It fits my needs exactly! One of my responsibilities as a school nurse for a special needs student is to grind medication in pill form into a fine powder that I then dilute and medicate my student through a gastric tube. The principle is the same for medicating anyone who can’t swallow pills, or even for medicating your pet.I love the smooth texture of the inside of the bowl with concentric rings edged into it. The edging helps reduce the effort of crushing the pill and the smoothness helps keep too much of the powder from getting stuck in the bowl. They also provide a little brush to help sweep out any remaining powder so there is no loss at all! Before I have only used marble sets and the natural texture of the stone traps too much of the powder and doesn’t allow as fine a grind. This set is made of stainless steel. It is heavy duty and feels very sturdy and durable. There is a rubberized ring on the bottom to keep it from shifting in place during use. Cleanup is a cinch. The only reason that I gave it a lower score on giftability is that I think most people are looking for something for use in the kitchen with herbs or other cooking needs. I think that natural stone would be preferred for that.

I use the product as a pill crusher and it is great!
I’ve tried other products for crushing medication, and this one is by far the best. The quality and heavy weight make it feel substantial and well-made, and I can tell it’s going to last for years. It's not just a functional tool but also a durable one that I can rely on.It doesn’t retain any residue or odors, so a quick rinse under the tap is all it takes to get it ready for the next use. This is particularly convenient for frequent use, as it saves a lot of time and effort.ConclusionOverall, the Tera Stainless Steel Mortar & Pestle is a high-quality, reliable product. Its rustproof and durable construction, combined with its stability and ease of cleaning, make it a great choice for anyone. Whether for culinary purposes or crushing medication, this set stands out for its performance and longevity.

Stainless steel mortar and pestle.
After breaking the marble pestle several times, this mortar and pestle are great. Plus I love the cover to keep the bird seed inside and it's not going all over the kitchen. I have two parrots and I grind up some of their seed and pellets so they'll eat them. I did keep the marble mortar and I can still use that with this stainless steel pestle. No more breakage.

Excellent product very slightly damaged during packaging/shipping.
I intentionally bought 2 of these mortar and pestle 'kits': One small (250ml) and one large (350ml). I wanted to compare these items to another mortar and pestle 'kit' that I had purchased from another company on Amazon: A small (250ml) mortar size. The large (350ml) 'kit' that I bought from this company came to me in perfect condition. Beautiful box, impeccable manufacturing/surfacing, beautiful well-rounded (shape) pestle, and a good white brush with hard bristles to empty the mortar. I should mention that I use this for crushing pills that are then put in solution and fed through a feeding tube. They grind easily into a fine powder and MUCH more convenient than using any pill crusher alone. This large mortar and pestle have performed beautifully. I also bought a smaller 'kit' (250ml) to test if a smaller mortar might have an advantage over the larger mortar when crushing pills. (It does). The smaller 'kit' purchased on a different day, on a different order had a slightly damaged box. After opening the item for inspection, I noticed that the mortar had obviously taken a trip out of its box to (probably) a concrete floor. Where this happened is anybody's guess. The bottom rim of the mortar presented a small 1/4" dent with a very small abrasion. Not a big problem, but annoying to be sure. It has absolutely no effect on the performance of the mortar and since there is a rubber gasket on the bottom that comes in contact with the counter surface, it cannot be felt. Someone in 'shipping/packaging' had made a decision after dropping the item that it was "good enough" for whomever bought it. Functionally, this mortar performs extremely well - especially when easily grinding pills to fine powder. I couldn't be happier with that aspect of the 'kit'. It also comes with a white stiff bristle brush for removing the power from the mortar into a glass for mixing with water. Two plastic covers were also supplied to keep the contents inside when initially breaking up the pills with the nice heavy pestle. The pestles for both mortars are the same long size and shape; very well manufactured for their purposes. The smaller size allows the powdered pills to stay closer to the center of the bottom of the mortar and makes for easier handling during the process. Will I keep the small one? Yes, I will. Only because it is a hassle to pack it all up and ship it back for a relatively small problem. Still, it shouldn't have happened, and the company should darn well know this.FOUR STARS WHEN IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN 5!The additional 'kit' I bought from another company (reviewed by me at their site) was, in my opinion, inferior. The pestle was about 5/16" shorter than the two identical size pestles I received from this great company. Also, the other company's pestle was not ground properly in manufacturing and was mis-shaped, shorter and had a flat (not rounded) handle end. Uncomfortable for my large hands when grinding. Mail 0rder customers are always at the mercy of unscrupulous shippers and handlers, unfortunately.

Good quality and heavy
My wife is from Puerto Rico and has always used a stone/marble Mortar and Pestle. I am just a white boy that thought salt and pepper were "spices" before I met her. The problem with the stone/marble ones was that the pestle would get broken and we would have to buy a new one. (I think she gets aggressive and takes out her frustrations while grinding and the pestle can't handle it) She was pessimistic when she saw this but tried it anyway. She liked it! It is very sturdy, heavy and can take quite a beating. It also cleans up easily. The plastic cover keeps everything inside if you use it (wife does not use it) The little wife would never admit that this is better than the ones in PR but I think she might think that. Don't tell anyone in Puerto Rico about my wife liking this. I wouldn't want her to lose her Puerto Rican card!
