Pentax AF360FGZ II Flash for Pentax DSLR Cameras

I just got this to replace a Metz flash unit. The Metz had a defective battery door and contacts that fell apart after very little use.This Pentax flash unit is fairly new and it's an update of older versions. The unit is very easy to use, the manual seems pretty complete and well-written and the flash unit fits my Pentax K-5II much better and has better balance than the Metz flash. The Metz flash is too tall, actually. This Pentax flash also has more power than the Metz flash.Some reviews of Pentax flashes were somewhat negative because of a battery door problem where the battery door didn't shut all the way and would pop open unexpectedly and the batteries would fall out. Apparently, any possibility of that has been corrected on this newer Pentax flash unit.The flash itself swivels plenty far, both horizontally and vertically. I think the horizontal swivel direction was added with this new update. This updated flash also is supposed to have a metal base which makes it stronger.I might put more in here after I get a chance to really check out this flash. But everything has worked very well so far. I will say now that the menu system, buttons, dials, etc., on this flash unit seem to be of the same quality as they are on my Pentax cameras. I have the Pentax K-5II and the Pentax K10D cameras. The K-5II is well worth the difference, but the K10D is still a good camera.

Another winner from Pentax.I bought this flash as I had a couple of major family events (weddings) where they wanted some pictures of the reception & families.Hey, great excuse for new photo gear, right?I was concerned about flash power as some pretty large groups would be involved, and you need a more powerful flash to cover such an area evenly.This flash did NOT disappoint. Lighting is even on a twenty person group, distance 15 or 20 feet, with ASA 200 and F5.6.I would estimate its real GN at 80 for ASA 100 film.Another plus is recycle time - quite fast, less than a second with rechargeable batteries at 10 feet and 2 or 3 seconds at most at distance.I used one set of 4 Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries for the entire evening, about 250 flash shots, without having to change batteries.That is a remarkable performance.The camera is a Pentax K3 II.HIGHLY recommended.

I received my flash promptly from vendor and even though it was marked as used in the ad, it looked new. Tested in out and seems like everything works fine. s a Pentax DSLR uses, I would recommend this flash.

Like a lot of OEM flash to camera combinations out there, and even with Auto ISO to 800 or 1600, the shutter speed selected is often very slow - like 1/15 or 1/30th sec. I don't get it. I use this for interior photography and I prefer AV mode but even with shake reduction I don't trust it for real crisp images at those slower shutter speeds. So I need to use TAV mode set to 1/100 - 1/160th and f6.3 - 8.0 with auto ISO max at 800 and it works well.In P or TV modes it will automatically select the widest aperture which rarely delivers IQ comparable to a couple of stops down.Otherwise build quality is very good and solid. It's a small flash which I really like on my K5 IIs or K30, and it has enough power for my needs.Has HSS, master/slave modes, nice backlit LCD, and it's very easy & quick to alter output when needed. I wish it had an add-on diffuser available.It would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the slow shutter speed selection.

The unit was delivered in great shape, worked the first time, and works as advertised.A nice unit, built well. I am impressed.

Works wonderfully

I needed a dedicated flash for my K-50. It's TTL capabilities make it easy to work with. I was shooting candids for a friend's wedding in the photo below. When the time comes to upgrade my camera body, I know this flash will come along with it. I have come to appreciate matching flash units and lenses with the manufacturer, it makes integration seamless.

It's a real cool item for my Pentax K5-II! It's a "all-in-one" multifunctional product with traditional Pentax's advantages - speed, size, weight, weather protection, lots of useful functions... I love it!

As a strobist I have multiple flashes. Multiple Cactus RF60's with radio triggers for studio. An original Pentax AF360FGZ for when you need to run-and-gun as well as a Pentax AF201FG for travel. I bought the Pentax AF360FGZ II to replace my original 360 that busted on a wedding shoot after 12 years of use. I had considered the AF540FGZ II but it was a lot bulkier with a slower recycle time. The new AF360FGZ II completely outclasses the original 360. It's better constructed, weather sealed, recycles faster and has an all metal foot. It's a must have for any Pentax shooter!

Pochi tasti chiari e ben fatti.Per chi è alle prime armi meglio un flash esterno entry level; questo è per certi versi migliore del AF 540 che differisce da questo solo per il maggior numero guida.n.b. Per l'utilizzo in modalità wireless, il segnale è di tipo ottico per tutti i flash Pentax a differenza di quelli di terze parti (come i Godox) che funzionano ad onde radio.

Works flawlassly in P-TTL mode with my Pentax K-1 and 24-70 zoom.. The other modes offer all the creative choices an amateur like me might need. My only minor gripe is that for the price point it didn't come with a diffuser head nor any other 'extras'...just the flash unit and soft case.

En effet, suite à plusieurs essais de marques tiers, revenir à un équipement d'origine donne les meilleures solutions, malgré un prix plus élevé.Produit parfait - en plus la lampe LED pour vidéos qui est maintenant intégrée dans ce flash est très utile.
