The Closer: Season 6

Unfortunately the 2nd disk of this DVD series paused and hesitated throughout. All other disks were fine.

I can not say enough good things about this series. I have ALWAYS loved Kyra Sedgwick-Bacon. She is great and a really nice person. On and off the screen. Every single character is/was WONDERFUL in this show! We watched every week when it was on and was so VERY, VERY sad to see it go. So OF COURSE I bought it on DVD. But I have to say there were a few words that she use to say that would "DRIVE ME NUTS"! But understanding that she ISN'T from the south,(and I am) she didn't have the accent 100% was understandable. But sometimes when she would say..."Ceremunnie"..for "Ceremony", or "Investigation." I mean for a person that was supposed to have advanced degrees (of which I too have), should have been able to navigate the verbal cadences a little more believable. But that is nothing compared to what we have to pick from TV today. So I have a hard day and I just watch Brenda over and over. Even though I know what’s going to happen.I have to say, that I am immensely dissatisfied with the way that Major Crimes has taken the turn it has. If you are a fan of the Closer and know these characters, and now following the MC stories. The BIGGEST DISSAPPOINTMENT is the Phillip Strogh character. I mean that was the BIGGEST ANTAGONIST to the Brenda Leigh Johnson ENTIRE persona. And they bring him back into the MC series and DON’T EVEN BOTHER TO MENTION Brenda’s name. I WAS SCREAMING AT MY TV!! I almost quit watching the show altogether .Not to mention they have continued to weave in and out with the Chief business with Fritz being Chief, Dept. Chief this and that. I mean and didn’t even mention Brenda AT ALL. I mean COME ON!!! The very job that Brenda and Fritz struggled and fought over for their entire marriage. None of that makes sense. So it just makes me miss the Closer even more. Even though I still Love all the same people, MC IS NOT THE SAME. But that isn’t what this review is about anyway.If you don’t have the Closer on DVD, please get it. You WILL LOVE IT! But you will only want more at the end.GC

Well the good news is we have season 6...the good news is there well be a season 7 which starts they say July 11th. The sad news is Season 7 is the last we'll have of The Closer. I've seen nothing official about spin offs that some hopefuls here report...so hope they are right. On the other hand...we've got season 6 and season 7 to look forward to.We just watched the first disk...tonight..straight on through...Oh once we start watching it is so hard not to take in just one more...ok just one more....I hope the rumor there well be more shows in season 7 and not a split season as another suggests.....because there really are never enough episodes.....really. More when it comes to The Closer is better:)))Such a pleasing show...on so many levels it delivers...humor...drama....character development...relationships among characters.....the list goes on...what's missing EMMIES every year for all cast and crew and writers that's what's missing. You know they have put so much into this show...the rewards by their peers so lacking? Jealousy...perhaps. I'd like to think so.This season one disk into it...has so far delivered and so far like another reviewer who was upset with it....seems a tad off with the new building as if you too are lost and bumping into things and off balanced by everything bigger longer newer..different....but it works for us. We couldn't give it anything less then the 5 stars the actors deliver. A spin off...if everyone moved to NY so Kyra Sedgewick could continue that would be ok by us:)))) What a cast....what a show. We'll cherish all 7 seasons and all 7 and a half seasons if that does occur.

Good story line.

INTENSE! I myself can relate. Nit Picking about the littlest DETAIL is my cup of tea (so to speak). All the supporting characters have gone on a wild ride thus far and hope it continues. No more BOREDOM. No more being just a bunch of I's. This is a TIGHT KNIT TEAM, as it should always be. Yes, I know that each one still tries to be a(n) I, but in the end, each one realizes it never works. The comedy and banter amongst the TEAM is real and that is why I myself would recommend this series to almost everyone. If you look intensely in a mirror, you might see yourself. You might also see the SELFISHNESS of Brenda. I CAN DO THIS MYSELF. I DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE TO HELP ME. Some where along the line Brenda realizes SHE CAN'T DO WHAT SHE DOES ALONE. Fritz is the husband who continues to be faithful. Pope is like a lot of men and some women in HIGH positions. We are all the prodigy of our parents. We listened, watched, mimicked and copied from them and we became there copies. Brenda is just like her dad and mom. The Bible says: like Dad, like son. Like Mom, like daughter. Copies.

If the 8th and current season is the final one, we will be losing one of the best conceived, written, and acted entertainments presented on TV. The Closer gives a true picture of humanity with both its exceptional and flawed moments. It is a full human experience packaged in a way to keep us in sync with the characters, allowing us to accept, even appreciate, the dullness of day to day trivia as set side by side with the excitement of solving crimes, catching the criminals, and completing a valuable service.In a world where so much of what is produced, and what we are willing to watch, is just plain stupid, the Closer stands out as worth the time. Even though it is a diversion, it gives us hope that our lives might also be worthwhile. And, it provides a role model, first for women being both female and professionally competent, and for all of us learning from out mistakes and doing better the next time.Note: I so love watching these on DVD's --- devoid of interruptions for advertising that could also be a worthwhile experience but too often are stupid, patronizing, and just plain totally deceptive.

I loved id cause it completed my set

This series is one of my very favorite programs, made so by the great Kyra Sedgwick, you get everything with her from laughter to some serious police work. I could have watched many more of these such a pity Kyra has left the program, will never be the same without her. The rest of the cast played some great stuff but the star was Kyra, this is one series I will greatly miss, I will give Major Crimes a go but it won't be the same, bring Kyra back.

Interesting new stories, with a great cast. This is the second to last season of this show. A follow on TV Show Major Crimes is strongly recommend, if you like the Closer.

what can one say these series of the closer are outstanding quality and im hoping to get series 7 when and hopefully it comes out in Region 2

Love the series, and at a fraction of the price! Bought secondhand, but in perfect condition!
