Review: Value Buy: Good price. Good quality. Easy to use. - I bought this microphone and a third-party AI-powered meeting transcription software. Took it to a 6-person meeting, not knowing how well it would work in the real world. I'm thrilled with performance overall. Audio quality was loud and clear, an essential for good transcriptions. We were in an enclosed conference room with just a moderate amount of noise from time to time. No issues at all. This is a fairly compact unit, making it easy to pack in my travel bag. Setup and installation is easy: Plug it in and select the external microphone in my transcription software. No driver or microphone software installation required. No batteries or external power brick required, as the mic gets power via the laptop connector. I do have a complaint about the cable. Although the cable seems high quality, it is permanently attached to the microphone. As a result, if that strain relief (where the cable attaches to the microphone) ever goes bad, the entire microphone must be replaced. Furthermore, the cable has a USB-A connector. It's true: some laptops still have USB-A connections, but many newer laptops (including ALL MacBook Pros) have only USB-C connections. USB-A is being phased out for many devices. It's easy to carry a USB-A to USB-C adapter, but those adapters are also easy to use. At some point, the company should consider switching to the current USB-C standard, which would still make it possible for those with USB-A laptops to use an adapter.
Review: Now that the world is on Zoom, this little gadget is a LIFESAVER! - So for whatever reason, the microphone in my laptop stopped working well. Everyone one video calls would complain that I sounded quiet and far away, or that they couldn't hear me at all even though I was unmuted and everything. This happened on Facebook, Google Meets/Hangouts, Zoom, didn't matter what platform it was. It drove me CRAZY, so I started using earbuds with an external microphone, but that's no good for when my partner and I want to call someone together. Enter, this external mic. I now use it even when I'm on a video call alone because the sound quality is better than the inline mic on my earbuds. It's wonderful to just be able to talk normally, not shout or struggle or have to type out what I want to say because no one can hear me. I don't mean to be melodramatic, but this item has improved my quality of life since the pandemic. Video calls suck, but they suck a lot less when people can actually hear you. I don't get complaints about my sound quality or volume anymore and I can just speak naturally on video calls. This works with my Dell computer that runs Windows 10 as simple plug-and-play, as advertised. I didn't have to download anything or do any setup at all, just push the button on the device so that it glows blue and if necessary make sure the video platform has the device selected as audio input. I'd highly recommend this as an easy to use and good quality solution for video calls, especially if you have one or more people sitting with you in the room and you want everyone to be heard clearly. We haven't really tested the limits of the range, but it works great if my partner and I are sitting around the kitchen table or on the couch together; the people on the other end can hear both of us just fine. This is quite possibly the best $40 I've spent this year.

## Features

- Omnidirectional Microphone - It is not a Speaker or Speakerphone, it is a condenser microphone. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern with a pickup distance of 11.5 ft, making it easy to capture the most subtle sounds from 360° directions and transmit the sound more loud and clear. Participants can hear each other without raising their voices.
- Made for Conferences - This microphone is perfect for small or medium meetings over an internet network by using Skype/GoToMeeting/WebEx/Hangouts/Fuze/VoIP/Zoom and other softwares. You can also use it for court reports, seminars, remote training, business negotiations, video chats, etc.
- Plug & Play, No Drivers Required - The microphone is compatible with all operating systems - both Windows and macOS. You just need to plug the microphone to start recording. If there is no response after inserting the mic, please go to the microphone setting of your computer and select the mic as the INPUT device.
- Convenient Mute Button - Quickly mute/unmute your microphone. The built-in blue indicator light for checking whether the USB microphone is working.
- Well Designed Cable - The microphone is constructed of sturdy and metal material and the base is fitted with an anti-slip mat which keeps it stable on desktop during use. It is small, convenient and does not require much space when in use. Connected with a 1.8m nylon shielded wire, it effectively eliminates signal interferences to achieve the best recording results.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone tested this mic on Linux?**
A: Works great-- plugs and plays (I'm using Xubuntu 20.04). Just works. Sound quality is *excellent*.

I've had less success on Raspberry PI-- it was scratchy; but I suspect (given the success on Linux) that's due to the PI being under powered. Have also had problems getting it working with Zoom on the PI (works *great* with Zoom on Ubuntu)-- but, again, I suspect that's a Zoom issue, not a mic issue.

**Q: How does it handle feedback? Specifically does it pick up when peoples voices are coming out of your computer speakers?**
A: I haven't had that issue, I have tried this in a few different set ups. The cord is long enough that you can place it away from speakers. But even at my desk, without moving anything else, this has worked fine.

**Q: Is there a way to turn on the mic without touching it when you plug it in? We want to mount it on a ceiling to avoid tripping hazard.**
A: My experience is that the mic automatically is on once it is plugged into the USB port. I have inadvertently turned the mic off when I moved it on the table after plugging it in. I have not tried to unplug it and plug it back in to turn it on. I suspect that will work. Since it is on the table I just turn it on by touching the switch button.

**Q: What is the best way to set this mic up? I have tried and it muted the background noise well but the sound of my voice is very low.**
A: I do not know optimum settings except to say that sometimes in the computer/laptop sound settings there are level of sound adjustments for speakers (output) and microphone (input). Make sure its turned on of course and that your computer is using it instead of its own mic which does not pick up voice real well unless right in front. I havr a fam of 4 who sit on a couch or half a table about 3-6 feet away and this mic picks up fine fine from anywhere. Hope that helps

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprisingly Good for the Price
*by R***Z on September 21, 2026*

I bought this microphone primarily for video calls and online meetings, and it has been a very practical little upgrade over the built-in microphone on my laptop. The biggest advantage is how simple it is to use. It’s plug-and-play, so there’s no complicated software or setup involved. The omnidirectional pickup is particularly useful when you’re sitting around a desk with other people, since everyone can be heard without having to speak directly into the microphone. Voice quality is clear and natural for meetings, conference calls, and general communication. The long cable also gives plenty of flexibility for positioning the mic where it works best instead of having to keep it right next to the computer. I wouldn’t expect studio-quality audio from a compact conference microphone like this, but that’s not really what it’s designed for. For Zoom/Teams-style meetings, remote work, online classes, and occasional recording, it does the job very well without adding much complexity to the setup.
