Great for elder care ramp - we use with Sport Utility Vehicle
We purchased this little ramp to use as a walkway for an elderly parent - we have a Mercury Mountaineer and she could not longer climb into the front seat. She can now use her walker and walk up the ramp, turn and sit easily in the vehicle. It folds and fits into the back of the Mountaineer - we do have to put part of the back seat down to accommodate the ramp length. You must be careful when opening it so as not to scratch the car doors. But, I am a senior age woman and have no problems using this ramp and maneuvering it and loading/unloading it. Of course, I do not have health issues either. The ramp probably weighs 40 lbs or so. It has a handle on the side for easy carrying. This ramp gives our parent freedom to come and go again. It isn't cheap - but it is well built. The nurses at extended care were all very impressed with it - had never seen anything like it. It is sturdy - will hold 600 lbs. We are satisfied with our purchase and it works very well for the purpose for which it was bought. It works exceptionally well if you can pull up to a curb and then the incline is much less - but it still works well if used from the ground. We also monitor our parent at all times and hold on to her for safety.WE DO NOT USE THIS RAMP WITH A WHEELCHAIR OR POWER CHAIR. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RAMP FOR THAT PURPOSE. THE INCLINE WOULD BE MUCH TOO STEEP AND YOU WOULD RISK ROLL OVER. YOU WOULD NEED A MUCH LONGER RAMP FOR THAT PURPOSE.

Excellent purchase! I have 2 steep steps and this is perfect for our garage entryway
I’ve taken forever to purchase a portable ramp because I was worried on whether I would purchase the right one or not and especially the fact that they didn’t take returns on this worried me even more! But I’m so glad I finally took the chance and purchase one because now my son can have the freedom of coming in and out of the house instead of having to depend on his manual wheel chair. I’m pretty happy with this I think I could have even gotten by with the 4’ one but I was concerned that it would have been too steep so I purchased the 5’ to be safe, my sons chair is about 400-500 pounds and it seems to be pretty sturdy, it also allows you to screw it into wherever you position it for extra support and safety. I have this in the entry in my garage and it has 2 steep steps. Again something I wish I would have purchased sooner. I purchased a slightly used one which only had a damaged box and this was an excellent purchase!!!

A GREAT SLANT ON LIFE!
We couldn't have asked for a better ramp than this one! It's light and easy to lay down and pick-up. It folds in half which makes it both easier to pick up and store. It holds one or two of us while pushing a VERY HEAVY TABLE CART up and down the ramp into and out of our storage container. The pre-drilled holes allowed us to simply drill into the metal lip of the container and put in and take out a couple of bolts to insure it won't slide even though the connection "lip" fit nicely over the lip of the container and didn't slide any way. A pair of work gloves available took care of the REALLY HOT ramp after it sits/lays in the Tustin sun for 6 hours. We would order another one of these ramps in a heart beat but suspect we won't have to as it is REALLY WELL MADE! Thank you for such a really nice product and although we aren't using it for wheelchair access, THIS WOULD BE A REALLY GREAT AIDE FOR ANYONE NEEDING A GREAT RAMP WITH A COMFORTABLE SLANT! Wish I could give SIX STARS!

Real problem solver
In order to get my wife who uses a wheelchair in and out of the house, I would pull and lift the chair up 2 steps with quite a bit of effort. A bit too much effort it would seem, as I put my back out doing it. So while I was recuperating I searched out remedies to our predicament. We didn't want to build a permanent wooden ramp so we decided on a portable metal ramp. After Googling for ramps I found the Prairie View ramp on Amazon.com and thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't sure about the ratio, but the 5'X 30" size was about all the room I had in a small utility area adjacent to the garage. I could not have been more pleased with the ramp. It is of solid construction and lightweight which makes for less wear and tear on my achin' back. The steps are 10" high and I had no problem going down, but wasn't too sure about going up. I'm an octogenarian, so it could have been a problem. However I hardly had to exert any energy on our return trip. The 5'X 30" was perfect for the 10" rise. I also love it's fold-able portability and the non slip surface is a real plus. I'm very happy with the Prairie View ramp. I only wish I had purchased it before messing up my back.

A real back-saving purchase
We bought this to allow us to push our daughter's new (and much heavier) wheelchair into the back of our minivan. After a few weeks of use, I can say that the ramp is fully meeting our expectations. It is sturdy, collapsible and has a slip resistance treatment which allows it to stay put, even when I am walking the wheelchair up the ramp. I have also heard good things about the Prairie View brand from folks in the business of knowing about handicapped accessible equipment. The only downside of the purchase is that the ramp is a bit heavy and awkward to slide out of the van. I have placed a blanket in the back of the van to prevent the ramp from ripping the carpeting or "grooving" the plastic trim as I slide out the ramp. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase...it is really saving our backs!

Sturdy
We bought this for my 8 year old who is in a wheelchair temporarily. We use it a lot. I have no concerns about it’s ability to hold our collective weight. It isn’t too heavy for an adult who is able bodied to carry, though it would be difficult for someone who uses a wheelchair full time to maneuver on their own. Overall, a very helpful purchase and money well spent.

4 foot or 5 foot ramps are very good.
I bought 2 ramps ... one 4 feet and one 5 feet. I have a one step porch. There is a 3 1/2 inch step down from the door to the porch (threshold). I used the 4 foot ramp there. I then have 10 feet to the step which is a 7 inch step down. I put the 5 foot ramp there. The porch is another 7 to 8 feet to the sidewalk so a five foot ramp is just right. Also the angle is not too steep which is great for my 83 year old mother who sometimes uses a walker and other times a wheelchair. The only addition I would like to see is support legs around the middle of the ramp. I think it would make it more secure.
