A whole book full of Naomi Shihab Nye moving poems. Inspiring !

An amazing poet. I bought this book because it contained the poem 'Kindness', that poem touches me every time I read it and never fails to bring tears to my eyes. This collection it worth the money for that poem alone. This is a great bed side book. Most of the poems are roughly a page long so they are quick reads, I often walk past it and just open to a page and read one poem and then put it back.

If you love William Stafford's poetry - you will find Naomi Nye amazing. She is phenomenal in person. Her poems are a slice of life reflecting her Palestinian heritage, growing up in the midwest. Her focus: the connections we are share with one another and to all other living things. Some poems are easy reads; others are obscure, requiring much introspection. I couldn't put her book down and will revisit each poem again over a warm cup of coffee on a cold winter's day.

Naomi is a superb poet and citizen of the world. Her words are at once graceful and authentic. She describes powerful complexities of culture and values in engaging and accessible metaphors. Very, very highly recommended.
