I love this ethernet hub (turning on VPN made a big difference in consistency for me)
I bought this USB hub in Aug 2023 to use with a new computer that did not have an ethernet port. I prefer to use ethernet when possible. Shortly after starting to use it, I started having some internet issues. I have quite a bit of older technology and didn't know if the problem was related to compatibility issues with some of the older tech, or with the hub itself. At least all the USB ports on the hub worked great, but I work from home and need a solid internet connection.Observing a consistent WIFI connection one day with a VPN turned on, I decided to switch from wifi to ethernet and plugged a cable into the hub again and see what would happen. Voila! Since then, I make sure my VPN is turned on when I'm going to be online, and I've not had any issues with the ethernet connection through the hub since! For me, using a VPN has made all the difference when connecting via ethernet with this hub. (I don't think the hub required it, I believe it was either my computer or the security suite I use.) I just know that since I started turning on a VPN regularly, internet access has been solid.I love this ethernet hub! (and also appreciate the USB C adapter included as I've used that a few times.)

Just is just what I have been looking for - it is GREAT!
My laptop PC does not have an ethernet port, so I needed an adapter. This Atolla ethernet/USB hub combo exceeded my expectations. It works great. it not only has ethernet, but it has three USB-A 3.0 ports. I have connected my ethernet cable, a laptop cooling fan, a wireless mouse, and a USB stick. I tried both USB 2.0 and USB 3.1 flash drives and both work. The Logitech wireless mouse does not interfere with the USB flash drive. The ethernet connects fast. However, this adapter does not work with a slim USB external hard drive, but that is likely the fault of the laptop USB-C port and not the adapter - if I connect the hard drive directly into the laptop's USB-C port, it also does not work - so it is the fault of the laptop's USB-C port. I also tried this adapter in a USB-A port with the same result, except it did recognize a slim USB external hard drive, but it would not maintain contact with the PC - it would bling-blong all night long. So, it is useless for an external hard drive. Note, this same hard drive does work properly if connected directly into one of the the laptop's USB-A ports. Thinking perhaps the fan and wireless mouse plus the hard drive are just too much of a power drain on the port, I disconnected the fan and the wireless mouse - but the hard drive still bling-blongs over and over again. However, for my purposes, this adapter is great and solves my issue with this laptop. I connect the adapter to the USB-C port for those three devices mentioned, leaving two USB-A ports free for connecting two external hard drives so I can copy between these two backup drives. It does everything I need, and the hard drive issue is likely the fault of the ports on the laptop, so I gave this adapter 5 stars and bought a few more.

Not Plug and Play
The Hub appears to overall be well-built. Unfortunately the USB to USB C adapter was so tight is the computer USB C slot that I had to push it so hard that I feared that it might harm the computer. The Quick Start guide states that the NIC driver will be automatically installed when plugged in. My hub would not connect to the internet through the ethernet port, so I went to the Atolla support site and downloaded the driver. After installation and computer restart, the ethernet port started working. I am running MAC OS Catalina10.15.7. The quick start guide instructed you to download the driver only for MAC OS 10.5-10.8. Clearer instructions would be a big help!

Now I can use a cable
Have an issue with my laptop finding the wireless router. I didn't even think about it not having an ethernet port when I bought it. This has solved the problem of connecting to the router. Although tethered to a cable, at least I don't have to use a metered cell connection. It works well and the extra USB ports are useful.

Perfect for those times you need a wired connection!
I had a computer I was converting from Windows 11 to Linux Mint 21.04. The wireless driver didn't work right away, so I had to have a wired connection. I bought this and, three days later, I have a working Linux laptop. Linux found it right away, configured it, and it's worked flawlessly!

So this Hub does work ok, but had some issues
So first time pluging in this hub make sure nothing else is plugged in. Get the hub working first. When I plug in my wireless mouse it was a bit jumpy. I'm going to try alternating the ports and see if that might be the problem, my plain USB 3.0 hub had no issues. I have not speed tested the ethernet port but it seemed to just fine, just had issues with the USB ports. I'll test with a webcam and update this review to at least a 4 star if I can get it all working.Other then that not bad for a very minimal docking station. Although it might be worth it to invest in USB 3.0 docking station. I did not have anything to test the USB C on, it did not work on my single USB-C, but I know on my MSI laptop that port is a bit more limited then newer models.
