But, Indian print edition is cheap and falls apart!
S. Radhakrishnan is a towering figure in the history of commentary on the religious literature, and his translation of the Upanishads (and the Gita and the Dhammapada) are among my bedside bibles. I am only writing this review in the hopes that it will be read by someone at Harper that will be able to see that a better-quality editing is printed. I certainly have not abused mine, and it is falling apart (pages coming out). This is the second one I have bought. The first one also fell apart and the pages became yellow way before their time. I am sure that this has to do with the quality of the Indian printing and the effort to use inexpensive materials. This great book deserves to stay in print; the introduction by Mr. Radhakrishnan are truly inspired and extremely informative, not only on the content of the Upanishads but also for the references to other literature--Mr. Radhakrishnan was a brilliant, extremely well-read person. PLEASE. Print this book in a better-quality editing. I'll by a dozen to give to my friends.

Loved the introductions
Love this. Great introductory essays and great translation with notes put in here and there as needed. President S. Radhakrishnan has given us a terrific translation of the Upanishads for decades to come! Definitely 5 stars.

Very nice book by one of the India's finest teacher.
Extremely happy to have bought this book. The translation and the commentaries are well organized. Before starting off with the Upanishads, gives a brief background on the Vedas to make us understand the essence and importance of Upanishads. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to dive deep into the ancient knowledge (many applicable even for the contemporary age) our ancestors have left behind.

Rhadakrishna's work a good east/west philosophical bridge
The actual text is completely in understandable English and lacks a lot of the more technical terms of sanskrit that put off new comers to Hindu philosophy. There are abundant allusions to classical philosophy including Plato, that make the work of interest to students of philosophy

The introduction to this translation provides a great deal toward an understanding of the text
The introduction to this translation provides a great deal toward an understanding of the text. There is an abundance of footnotes and comments throughout the work. Highly recommend this for anyone interested in the Upanishads.

I had shivers down my spine reading it! Every human must read it.
Few books I recommend to an earnest spiritual seeker. This has to be one of them.“When all the desires that dwell in the human heart are cast away, then a mortal becomes immortal and (even) here he attaineth to Brahman”I genuinely have no words! This is a must-read for every human! All questions related to karma, rebirth, cycles of life and death, and ultimate liberation are covered in this book. This is the book meant for serious truth seekers. This book is at par with “Autobiograohy of a Yogi” by guruji Paramahansa Yogananda, “The Voice of Babaji” by V.T. Neelakantan, Yogi Ramaiah and Babaj Nagaraj.I felt shivers running down my spine reading the lines in this book ( I haven’t finished it yet) . To not have read the truths contained in the Upanishads in one’s onward journey of life is to have missed knowing what the nature of this human life really is about. 🙏🏻☺️I repeat, I felt shivers running down my spine reading this book.“Knowledge takes us to the place where desire is at rest, a-Kama, where all desires are fulfilled, apta-mama, where the self is the only desire, atma-mama. He who knows himself to be all, can have no desire.”

Late arrival, but product in good order
Had to track the shipping company and the seller as the product did not arrive at first and was returned to origins due to not having the address (which should not have happened since it was made via Amazon and they have this information), but following contact with the seller a new delivery was arranged and the book finally arrived.Conforms to description in shape and contents. One of the most insightful books on a selection of some of the upanisads (only 18).

Reunion with an old friend
I remember using this book, while studying Hinduism at University many years ago now. It impressed me then and still does. Although almost forgotten now Dr Radhakrishnan is an expert at making the topic of Indian spirituality accessible to Westerners. Written in an early 20th century style, it is perhaps of its time. But none the worse for that!
