This 1983 sci-fi movie holds up well after all these years.
I had seen bits and pieces of Krull over the years - all on over-the-air TV - missed a lot of the show. Recently I heard a piece of music that reminded me of Krull and Amazon had it - in Blu-ray. Excellent choice. Good sci-fi story, good cast (Liam Neeson (he's so young in this), Robbie Coltrane as well as Francesca Annis) and really good sci-fi effects. There were parts of this movie that I hadn't seen in other sci-fi movies. A great piece of entertainment for <$10. And I'll watch it again.

"Krull" (1983) – A Cult Fantasy Adventure Full of Imagination and Charm
Krull (1983), directed by Peter Yates, is a visually stunning and ambitious blend of science fiction and fantasy that has earned its place as a cult classic. Set on the planet Krull, the film follows Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall) and his ragtag group of companions on a quest to rescue his bride and defeat an evil alien force, the Beast. Though the film doesn’t always hit the mark in terms of plot or pacing, its creativity, memorable visuals, and over-the-top adventure make it an enduring favorite among fans of 80s fantasy. What Makes It Great:✅ Unique Blend of Genres – Krull combines traditional fantasy tropes (like magical weapons and a princess in distress) with sci-fi elements, creating a fascinating world where castles and laser guns coexist.✅ Iconic Visuals & Set Design – The film’s set pieces, especially the cyclopean lairs and the mystical "Fire Mares," are imaginative and visually memorable, showcasing impressive (if occasionally dated) practical effects.✅ The Glaive – The titular weapon, a five-bladed star-like weapon called the Glaive, is one of the most iconic fantasy props of the era. Its visual appeal and its role in the story give the film a strong sense of identity.✅ Nostalgic 80s Fantasy Charm – The movie is full of classic fantasy elements: epic battles, magical creatures, and heroic quests. It channels the spirit of the Star Wars era, making it a nostalgic trip for fans of fantasy adventure. What Doesn’t Work:⚠️ Uneven Pacing – The film suffers from uneven pacing, with some parts feeling slow or overly drawn out.⚠️ Shallow Character Development – Outside of the main hero, Prince Colwyn, the characters don’t get much depth, which makes it hard to emotionally invest in their journeys.⚠️ Predictable Plot – While the world-building is impressive, the narrative often follows a traditional "hero’s journey" that doesn’t offer many surprises.Final Verdict:Krull is a delightful blend of science fiction and fantasy that captures the spirit of 80s adventure films. While its story and pacing may not be the strongest, the creativity and sense of wonder it offers still resonate with fans of the genre. If you’re in the mood for a nostalgic, whimsical fantasy adventure, Krull is worth the watch.⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) – A quirky, imaginative fantasy film with plenty of charm and nostalgia.

Fun packaging for a camp fantasy classic
Love the faux vintage VHS sleeve for this bizarre fantasy/sci-fi camp classic. If you remember watching this strange and fun film over and over on HBO back in the pre-on-demand days, or playing the equally strange Krull video game at the arcade, then this movie will stir memories of a time when B fantasy and sci-fi movies were everywhere. This film is a lot of campy fun, and the packaging leans into that.

Wow, this is the image quality the studio originally paid for
I own the DVD, got this to see how nice it looked, even on my low-quality TV. Fantastic image quality to what we've all seen before on VHS and DVD. Well worth it just because of this. As others pointed out, no special features. It also lacks all those annoying advertisements at the beginning of the disk - it's a Bluray disc with a movie on it.Unlike things like Babylon 5 where the special effects are grossly mismatched in quality, the special effects look good or fantasic. Maybe some were practical effects, I don't know.

Incorrect product title and product image.
The DVD I received was in a good condition and still shrink wrapped, but the packaging was not as the title/product image specified. It was a plain DVD with no "vintage" VHS slipcase art. The product image and the title is not accurate. If you are in search of the vintage VHS packaging do not purchase this item.
