My favorite introductory book on Molecular Biology
Chewy. Excellent introduction to a complex topic. The authors ingeniously use humor to teach a difficult subject and to keep the reader awake. Almost every page has a cartoon or two, and the expositions are spiced up with terrible cheesy gags. The fact that they are able to do this in a *molecular biology textbook*, and keep on doing it in a sustained manner from start to finish, is awe-inspiring. It bears tribute to the hard work that these educators have accomplished behind the scenes to make a presentation that actually teaches people.Even so, the subject matter makes this an advanced book. A very solid undergraduate textbook, or perhaps for A.P. high-school seniors. Will be a bit of a challenge for junior-high students who are not advanced. Chewy enough for grad students coming at the field from outside. If you want to learn molecular biology, buy this book.

The Go-To Book for People New to the Field
The "Monkey Book" is famous in the life science tools world as a means to educate non-scientific people on the fundamentals of molecular biology. If you are a student, this book is an amazing to leap to the head of a class. It's hilarious with little jokes sprinkled throughout and the content is rock solid.

Molecular Biology Made Simple and Easy
This text provided a wonderful introduction to the topic of molecular biology. It helped me understand basic principles in preparation for going deeper in my learning.

I Love this Book
This book was recommended to me by a College Professor who teaches Biology. What a Great book! The book revealed new(to me) concepts not yet learned despite my spending hours and and many weeks (months) reading other (very good) books. This book succinctly, but clearly introduced concepts which helped greatly in understanding published papers in Molecular Biology. I loved this book so much that I bought David Clark's other Molecular Biology book (which is not the simple and fun edition). Reading the entire text of this book took about a month, which was nice considering how Biology Books can be so encompassing that you have no idea where to start and it never seems to end. Love this book!

love this book
Decided to study for the MB(ASCP) exam, signed up for a class and ordered "the official book" by Lela Buckingham and it was way over my head. So I ordered and read "the monkey book" (as I call it) and got the basics down. Now I can understand the other text books..A real life saver ....got 100% on the first test and homework covering DNA replication, transcription and translation... Easy to read and understand & funny too! ( third edition is the best one).........Just love my "monkey book"!

Okay but not great...
I bought this book to try and obtain some background in molecular biology before I started my graduate program since I have never had either a molecular or genetics course. The book was witty and cracked a lot of jokes but overall it was not the basic introduction I was hoping for. It was a little too dumbed down for my tastes but I might have been expecting too much. The book essentially got shelved and I haven't picked it up since.

Good introductory text.
This is the easiest to read book on molecular biology around. Great for learning and reviewing. I understand why some readers might find it simplistic, but that is its strength. I recommend it highly.

This book is excellent
I would not have passed my Molecular Diagnostics class without having read this book as well as "Molecular & Cell Biology for Dummies" - GET BOTH!!!!
